2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

i really hope we can keep him but years of hurt make me less hopeful

with gordon i thought he’s nowhere near good enough for any of those top sides , we can enjoy him, and then he was gone within half a season

hopefully united is out of the question for now. yes theyre a huge club, huge stadium and fanbase, but its a death sentence for your career

city have dropped a load of cash on cbs recently

liverpool? it would be horrible but it does feel like he suits what they need. though van dijk would have him playing right sided to suit his poxy john terry complex

newcastle? they have the cash but can they beat the regulations

chelsea again to me seems like an absolutely lost club but they can always get high profile signings and managers in, and living in london

please just stay for another couple years lad

I think the new owners strategy was outlined when they took over.
"Buy cheap, develop and sell for a profit" (don't quote me).
Someone like Madrid come in with a bid over £70m, we are looking for a new player for the production line.
I think it's something that we are going to have to get used to unless we get in amongst the teams winning trophies.
Freidkins don't give a toss or know about when we used to sit at the top table.
They'll do enough to ensure we stay in the Premier league to keep the TV money and bonuses coming in.

still to this day convinced they wanted Carsley but went for the European international over the Irish bald guy

gravesen had played all season as a playmaker, carsley in the then dubbed makelele role that was becoming vogue in premier league and european football that year.

so madrid sign gravesen and ask him to play carsley’s role …

With the best will in the world to Lee Carsley, there is no way in a million years Real Madrid would have looked at him and thought ‘he’s the player for us’.

They may have misused Gravesen but they signed him because he was a very good footballer.

I don't think that's true at all. I think they see the club as a medium term investment, and with the size of our fan base our natural position is challenging for Europe every year. Yes we need to buy young players and develop them, and sell some and keep some, but nearly every club does that. I believe they'll look to run the club at break even, and try and increase its value via better league positions and higher profile.

You've literally just agreed with me 😀

Even if O'Brien is his replacement, we'll need a long term Tarkowski replacement in 12 months time. Just build the team around him instead of getting rid like we always end up doing.

There's a subtle difference between selling some players you've developed, maybe because you have a natural replacement in the squad, or already identified and are ready to sign a replacement for less money, and just selling off your best players to make money with no plan on how to replace them. We have been doing the latter for most of the past 20 years, and we need to do the former

Really hope we can keep him next season.

Id be surprised, but fingers crossed.
A new stadium, new manager, positive results, and with good recruitment in the summer, i think there is a good chance we can keep him.

I suppose that depends who actually puts an offer in for him.

If its someone like Real Madrid or maybe City (Pep factor) then he will go
If the likes of Utd/Chelsea come in for him he should stay right here.

I just hope our budget in the summer isnt with the sale of him in mind.

It depends on what your ambitions are.

Yes, you can plod along the route you have laid out and you will make money but not an extraordinary amount.

Or you can over time aim for top four, become a regular CL club, win trophies.
The value of your asset now increases exponentially.
The new stadium finally allows the club to be something more than just a run of the mill Premiership club.

The development will be incremental but I think you may be wrong about the ambition.

If Man City want him we need to get at least £100 million. Give that money to the DOF and Moyes and we could strengthen the squad considerably. There's really no point in selling him for less than £80 million due to his worth to the team.

I'm hoping we strengthen the squad without any Branthwaite money.

To replace him though we would need to spend at least half of what we get for him (Hes that good)
I would rather keep him and TFG provide with 100m to get the rest of the team to his level or try to.

Moyes has already said we can't strengthen the squad without selling.
