Only "attempting to hold out" eh? How can we dare resist the mighty red mancs. It is a disgrace that the local rag can use such a grovelling narrative.

£75m would be a decent fee for a player that's just had one season in the division, but again it's a terrible sign that we have to sell off our most promising and best players just to stay alive. It'd be an extremely difficult one to swallow, especially as it guarantees us having a significantly weaker defence next season which may come back to hurt us massively if we cannot find more goals than last season.

I cant see this would happen before Jun 30. We will soon have a new owner and we also hope to sell Onana to get in line for FSR. More important is I dont think we need to sell for 120-130M.

Didn’t this balloon say he’s was off too Man Utd this morning?

Everton have insisted that they will not be bullied into selling Branthwaite on the cheap with claims of a Goodison Park ‘fire sale’ this summer wide of the mark. And given the £80million fee that United paid for Harry Maguire in 2019, the £75million Chelsea paid for Wesley Fofana in 2022 and the £77million Manchester City paid for Josko Gvardiol, the Blues consider their breakthrough star of the season to be in the same bracket.

The ECHO understands that Old Trafford chiefs are now expecting a deal to be done for the centre-back before June 30 although Everton don't expect to lose Branthwaite and are actively planning for him to be with them next season, unless a mega offer comes in. The Manchester Evening News states that United "won't be held to ransom" over the price as they are also in a delicate position around PSR and while they are interested in Branthwaite, they have a number of other centre-backs on their list of targets, including Juventus' Gleison Bremer and Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
