The reality is Southgate is never gonna put Branthwaite in the Euro’s team within first 4/5 caps, so he will always play the more experienced defenders knowing they have more chance of game time in Euro’s.

Dunk was atrocious when he came on against Brazil, he’s also part of a Brighton defence that concede a ridiculous amount of goals. For someone who used to play as a centre back Southgate really does make some bizarre selections, how many tournaments will Dunk be involved in? If he doesn’t take Branthwaite (a quick, good in the air, left- footed centreback who will only get better) then he’s worried that the media will pile in on his undroppable favourite once they see just how good Jarrad is.
He'll have all the scab six players trying to get in his head now... "you want to play for England you've got to play for us lad".

The succession planning by Southgate at CB has been utterly dreadful. You have Maguire who makes mistakes most games and now Dunk who has made two mistakes in two games yet both still get game time. Both the wrong side of 30 too when you have players like Branthwaite, Guehi, Tomori, Konsa etc. all waiting for an opportunity and all with higher potential or as good as the former players already. How Branthwaite hasn't even been given a 45 to showcase his talent is baffling.
Hope he doesn't come on now. Not worth risking him.
I'm quite happy he's stayed on the bench. No risk of a confidence sapping error, an injury or (worse) a stellar display seeing the press trying to flog him ASAP.
Everton have went been on the beg to not play him because it'll trigger a payment
