2023/24 Jarrad Branthwaite

32 year old Lewis Dunk. He's the future!
Sums up Southgate and what a poor manager he is. Never beaten a decent team at a major tournament and got unbelievably lucky with draws

Don’t care about England but they should be winning the Euros but they won’t

No way Dunk ever goes to a major tournament so why play him. Perfect time to see what you have in Branthwaite but doesn’t bring him on.

….Southgate has some seriously talented youngsters at his disposal; Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Cole Palmer, Branthwaite, Mainoo, Gordon et al. He needs to be building his team around these, finding the right formula where they fit.
Southgate is an absolutely abysmal manager, he’s risk averse and safety first. Branthwaite is there so him and his bully of a coach can have a look at him more closely with absolutely no intention of playing him because his whole team is setup to help an untouchable and woeful centre back who would be outpaced by captain Tom. A centre back who absolutely has to have Kyle Walker in his defence to bail him out time and time again btw. Conor Gallagher has absolutely zero quality on the ball, much like Mason Mount and Jordan Henderson but they all run around a lot and are far better off the ball than with it. Southgate’s infatuation with Duracell ploppers, letting them have far too much of the ball in the most important areas and in the centre of the pitch, getting them into positions where quality is needed is exactly the reason his teams create absolutely nothing and never have.
Jarrad sitting on the bench last night watching the other defenders all putting in Sunday league performances will have done him no good at all, especially when he was completely overlooked for “experience”.

He was always in the squad for the experience though. Saying that if he was to have a cameo it was against the Brazilians in what was akin to an exhibition match.
Now you'd think that wobbly gob Southgate could be tempted to give him a bit of game time against Belgium after the piss poor defensive show from last night. Time will tell

Have we had any of thew 'Branthwaite needs to leave everton to a big club to further his career' from the meeja yet?
Even though any halfwit knows he should be in place of McGuire without delay.
It's hardly a lie to say that his career will be unfulfilled if he stays here. He has to leave at some point if he wants to play in the big competitions and win things. I'd love to be able to keep hold of players like him but it's just not realistic. Ambitious players need to play at the highest level and we need to sell to get money in.

It's a bit what I witnessed over the period.

Tbh, we always laughed a bit about England in Spain back in our golden years around 2006-2012.

You had really talented and good individual players with players like Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand, Rooney, Terry, Beckham etc., but could never made this work as a group, a bit like Germany since 2018. I know you hate being compared to them.

This generation now is even more talented, ended up with 1 final, 2x semis, 1x quarter, missing that title you've been longing for since 66.

He’s a lot closer than Branthwaite is, not a chance Gareth breaks his defence up just to give Branthwaite a try. Once he leaves he will definitely have more of a chance.
I think last night proved my point completely. Branthwaite will probably get a few mins next game but he is way down the pecking order, until he moves on and the media get him a place in the squad.

You have to wonder about Southgate, leaves himself so open to criticism when he selects Harry Maguire. The whole team selection is just safe, always safe....
