I was impressed with him 2 seasons ago when he had his little run towards the end of the season. Tonight, he looked so much better, very composed and a massive physical presence, as Mina misses so many games, I feel that we need a commanding tall centre back to cover for him and this lad has all the tools to do that.

I think he will bring Keane on. It happened 2nd half tonight. Keane looked a different player. Aggressive and winning every 2nd ball. Braithwaite give him a kick up the backside.

I’m not sure why it’s taken until the squad was down to the bare bones for the manager to pick this lad. They looked so much better tonight defending set pieces and he’s obviously a threat in the opposition box. Until Mina is back Branthwaite should be a regular in the team, will definitely need him against Burnley.

My motm - quality defensively against a good Chelsea side, and took his goal well.

If Weetabix Yerry could get himself fit, I'd love to see them together for a run of games.

As other have said, he was good enough two seasons back. He should have been in the team much sooner than tonight, Benitez needs to keep him and the younguns in the team, we will do better

Looked to have massive potential when he first got into the team.

Has continued his development and as ive said a few times, he should be starting next to Keane at centre back for now -- then next to Godfrey next season.

Looks to have the world at his feet.

Ive said that we sell Mina in Jan and go with Branthwaite.

Its strange how most people on here have been saying play this lad when Raffa Cake was only interested when we are down to our bare bones. This lad is a very good player, the manager is an absolute dikhead.
