January Transfer Window 2026

watching players like iliman ndiaye is why we go to football. advocating his sale is madness

we couldnt even nail down kenny tete so what makes you think we’ll get a player anywhere near as good as ily

Tbf we offered tete a contract, he agreed to it, he was then offered a better contract by Fulham and we either werent willing to match it or moyes saw his ass that he'd already agreed a deal with us and reneged on it (probably both tbh).

thats why we didnt sign him. If wed of matched Fulham or bettered it we have tete but we didn't think he was worth it.

Also the ndiaye point is mute seeing as we signed him when we were in a worse position then we are now.

But i do agree we shouldnt sell him atm. Neither in the summer unless weve fully blooded dibling into the squad.

Yeah, dibling, aznou, patterson, harrison, welch, Campbell, dixon, olayiwola?

Not all starters but can use some as subs. Then sprinkle in players who arent playing week in and out in the first team. Like gana, keane or o'Brien (if branthwaite is fit), alcaraz, barry/beto (depending on who started in the league), tim and rohl.

Then hopefully when it comes to the tough part of the season at xmas we have plenty of options. As there'll be lads with 6-8 games (and whatever sub appearances they've had in the league) under their belt who can step in and fill out the squad.

Then those squad players might become first team players and the people they push out of the starting line up play in the Europa conference.
Welch, Campbell and Dixon will be released by the seasons end I'd imagine. Patterson is hardly a kid let's be honest. I just don't see where these youth are coming from to pad the squad out for a European campaign so we'll be stretching our limited squad to the limit unless we go on a transfer binge in the summer which judging by our recent activities in this area is hardly likely to happen. Saying all that I'd still love to be in Europe next season

It’s easy to cherry pick. There have been a handful of players that have been successful for us when signed directly from a foreign league, we almost never do it and when we do it’s usually really bad. Yet other teams manage to do these type of signings regulary. They don’t always work of course but they are relatively lower risk / price

I have just been trying to review players we have bought directly from outside of the UK in our history. Yobo, Ndiaye, Bernard was useful, Yerry and Fellaini. That might be it. Fellaini the only single one who hasn’t lost value. I might of missed some before someone catches me out, but the numbers are embarrassing for an ever present prem team

Did he hit double figures in la liga ?

Thought he had 16 goals last season but 10 or so were from he previous club ?

Genuinely asking not being smart …

But I’m also still haunted with the memory of Sandro scoring 20 la liga goals in a season

11 in 35 games in La Liga. Everyone on here would consider it money well spent if he hits that ratio next season.

Sandro just came in that trolley dash summer after Lukaku was signed and there was no plan at all. Would've been better getting him in the year before while Lukaku was still around so he could be eased in and adapt without the pressure of being the number one forward which didn't really happen anyway as Rooney just played upfront straight away.

Roma signing Zirzkee on loan.

Dovbyk surely going to be offered here at some point in January?

Club scouted him years back before he even went to Girona.

Even at Roma he scored 12 in 30 last season so not like he's been a complete flop there, just dosen't fit into what Gaspierini wants and he plays Evan Ferguson instead.

Could do much worse.

Its weird as just at full back:

LB: Mykolenko / Aznou
RB: Coleman / Patterson

We have the numbers, just not the quality.

Moyes made the decision not to sign anyone aside from Aznou.

I think we should sign a young RB and have him compete with O'Brien and get used to the league.

Then in the summer it may be that he's fine as a starter for next season. If not sign a top player.

Left back loan Aznou and extend Mykolenko. Sign a top LB this January and come the summer sell Mykolenko.

Again...no more numbers as we have enough. Just improve the quality.
The attacking 4
RM: Ndiaye, Dibling
10: KDH, Alcaraz, Rohl
LM: Grealish, Ndiaye
ST: Barry, Ndiaye

Though I understand Moyes has yet to try Ndiaye as a a striker, but if we sold Beto & McNeil, you’d expect at least 1 incoming (I’d prioritise a pacy winger)

Come the end of Jan, there’s 15 league games to go, that’s plenty of depth with 1 extra signing

Bobble saying the club don't think signings would guarantee a European place finish so they are very unlikely to try apart from loans. They won't let Mcneil go as aren't looking to replace him till summer.

Looks like we are only going to use 1 transfer window a year then.
That would really annoy me if true. That kind of thinking has held us back for years. There's no guarantee of any kind of success in sport, but you have to push boundaries to succeed. This is one of the most condensed PL seasons I can remember. A good run gets Europe.

The club cannot on the one hand bemoan how hard it is to attract players when we don't have European football and then not go all out to try and achieve it. What then when bigger clubs inevitably come in for the likes of Ndiaye and Branthwaite? How do we keep them? Or do we lose them too and then struggle to attract high calibre replacements?

There are players out there that would improve us that we could get. Go and get them. Don't finish on 50 points and give yourselves a pat on the back for getting more than last season.

Wants to stay in Italy according to the reporters over there.

Which is completely fine by me because he's the Ukrainian Geoff Horsefield.
