January Transfer Window 2026

Except it wouldn’t be sensible. It would be huge psr losses on Beto and Barry. They are also worth much more than that.

Rather than deciding Barry is a failure already, why not wait until we play a bit more to his strengths and he has had a realistic amount of time to settle. He has played for 5 clubs in different countries in 5 years, that can’t be easy to adapt to for a young person. Same way DCL is currently thriving at Leeds yet struggled here when we were just punting it long to him.

We have no overlapping fullbacks. And very little pace, let’s get the squad rebuild further along before deciding he is a failure.
Barry 5 clubs in 5 years sounds a worry for me that clubs haven't felt the need to hold on to him i hope he comes good but he just looks like a younger Beto to me , poor control , no Physical strength in holding the ball up when needed both of them need to get in the gym and bulk up especially their legs and coach them how to either hold it up or take a fowl .

Beto knows the right herbs and spices to use here at least

It’s more that clubs from a higher level have come in for him because at every level he has moved to, he has continued scoring goals.

Again i hope he comes good as i do for every player we sign but i just can see anything in him as a good footballer it wasn't as his goals last season we classic finishers and i would be surprised if we start to play any different under Moyes to play to his strengths what ever they may be .

I kno for me is the frustration of being left short in positions, having to look at us have two gk on the bench. Not saying to have depth like chelsea. But feel most windows we have had have been left wanting more

I think Moyes weighed things up and thought Branthy would be back around Oct/Nov like last season and likes of Tarks and Keane have very good fitness records so enough to get through given O'Brien would remain at RB. So four options for three positions and Garner can also play there if injuries happen.

However as the season has gone on all it has shown that to progress regularly into the top half it is going to need more than Myko and J O'B as the full backs in the long term.

So remains baffling after Tete deal didn't come off there wasn't an alternative option.

So at the same time the window can't be rated above 6/10 as a pressing position wasn't strengthened at all.

Thats on Moyes though, rather than on the player? If Moyes, as coach, cannot or will not change his tactics to get the best out of our strikers, then someone needs to have a word with him. Clean sheets are fine, but its goals that win games, that entertain us.

Your correct about the physicality and going to war with the opposition, but that can be coached/acclimatised by playing more and realising how little time you get.

My main worry with Barry has been he hadn't shown anything like I'd expect a striker to - a turn of pace, beat a man, get a shot away etc. On Saturday he done all 3 and I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised and relieved to see it. That's given me a bit of a hope.

I can't believe how poor Beto has been, I think back to his away performance against Palace where he used himself as a battering ram, made a nuisance of himself, brought others into play, scored a goal and nearly had another. Compare that to this season where he's been static, bullied off the ball far too easily, has barely looked a goal threat and when the chances have come (Villa at home, Palace at home) has missed glaringly easy chances. It looks to me like his race is run at Everton and it's time for him to move on. If he finishes with 1 league goal, is that the worst return of an Everton number 9 since numbers were introduced i wonder?

Either way, they've both been a huge disappointment but I'm hopeful that little snippet from Barry on Saturday, that he follows that up with a goal tomorrow. He should have a bit of confidence as he scored against them 3 weeks ago so he knows what to expect.

Agree with you on most of that apart from Barry I can’t see him succeeding here unfortunately, not a PL striker imho. His reading of the game & strikers instinct are really poor.

He is still young, give him time. Hit double figures in La Liga so he's not some misfit dragged up from a minor league.

The crowd at BMD want him to succeed given the reception he had coming off v Newcastle so I think they can see he is worth backing compared to Beto who needs to be moved on now.

Heard he's on the shortlist of West Ham striker targets so nice they've morphed into that basketcase prem club desperate to sign anyone. This club was in that state just two years ago. Remember Danjuma being hyped up as some Balon D'or contender on here?! Currently in and out of a Valencia side one point above the bottom three.

We hear theres not much opportunity in January.

Other clubs will need a player like Patterson, McNeil, Beto and we should take the opportunity to move all three of them on.

We'd get more in January than at the end of the season.

The way things have gone this season we dont lose anything from pocketing the cash & loaning in a centre forward and a right back at the least.

Add those fees to the £50mil+ unspent in the summer and we should be able to sign a permanent right back as well.

OUT
Beto
McNeil
Patterson

IN
Centre forward (loan)

I have absolutely no idea why I think Barry could turn out to be a goal machine when he gets going. Often hear about the difference in the premier league for young strikers. Takes time, the comparison I'm hoping for is Mateta, he couldn't hit a barn door in his first season but has turned into a right handful. Think a summer in the gym will do Barry wonders.

Maybe clutching.

But we need goals from strikers

Having said the above...

I'd be going after Joao Gomes at Wolves. Quality midfielder box-to-box and can also play as 6 or attacking midfield.

KDH - Gomes - Garner

Iroegbunam & Armstrong bench.

Things start to look more interesting.
