January Transfer Window 2026

Gallagher is a good player in my eyes, but good grief do we need a RB more. It would probably let Garner move to RB on a more regular basis if we got him in, but I would vastly prefer a specialist RB in.

I guess it depends on the relative quality of any available RB versus Garner. If they don’t think they can get a RB better than Garner in Jan, then I suppose Gallagher taking Garner’s CM spot and moving him the to RB for the rest of the season makes some sense. Does feel like there must surely be a RB out there somewhere for us though…

- when you're a complete eye-test purist and your own eyes are so untrustworthy as to be tricked into thinking a player is a headless chicken just because they're hard-working
When you’ve actually played football, had sex with an actual girl and can see someone with very limited ability.

They were doing a bit on sky earlier about Garner, even had a chat with him. But whilst they were speaking about him being under the radar of Jack, Illy, KDH. They showed the stats so far around our team on all different assets, and who came out 1st on each one, yep, the man we should be moving to Rb !! 🤔

Be interested to watch this!

I know a lot of the conversation is about midfielders but I think Armstrong is on a really good learning curve at PNE so leave him there he will be better for it and look at Hackney at Boro who would cost 20 to 25 million and wouldn't be on huge wages. I also think Hackney will end up being the championship player of the year if he carrys his form forward.

The non stop running is what we need. One of the reasons Sunderland are doing so well is that they bought players that can run all day!

When we face the top teams, the off the ball work the players have to get through is immense. Gallagher does that.

We also do have some craft in the team and could do with some more as im not sure he has a pass in him, but Gallagher would be an excellent addition
But if you want to be a top team, you need better. I don’t want us to drop 40mil on a hard working player. And Sunderland is a bit of a flash in the pan, we should have higher aspirations than Sunderland

I guess its what available mate, id say we wanted full backs in the summer - but id say they weren't happy with who was on the market.

Id prob go for a different central midfilder myself, but that's one in Gallagher i thought could be one that would interest Moyes.
As @Bob Elstone famously said last summer, Gallagher looks like the kind of bloke who gets waxed, but I don't think even the most hirsute of us could deny he'd hugely improve our midfield.

Garner holding with KDH and Gallagher as the 8s ahead would be a decent midfield. There’s goals in the attacking mids and good work rate and technique throughout.

If Gallagher was the medium term replacement for Gana I wouldn’t be adverse to it.
If Gallagher comes in, Gueye would be the replacement. He's getting on now, and could be used sparingly. Gallagher would surely be first choice. I mean, if not, why are we even bothering to acquire him (assuming, for the sake of this discussion, that we even are)?

One would hope the Jack Grealish statement signing in the summer would lead to another statement signing quite soon. No guarantee Jack stays beyond May, so perhaps we need to keep the momentum with another eyebrow-raising and profile-raising acquisition this winter.
