January Transfer Window 2026

We've scored 18 goals from an xG of 18.5 - as a team we're not underperforming our chances really at all, and the strong likelihood is that will continue to be the case overall across the full season.

Don't think the issue is with our attack at all so don't get clamour to sign a striker or whatnot

Centre halves, full backs and defensive midfielder are bigger priority for me

Meanwhile we have two of the best wingers in the league, which is an insane thing to be true, and they're both being enormously hamstrung by having absolutely 0 attacking support from their fullbacks.
That's fair. An actual good striker also increases the changes made and xG simply by putting themselves in the right positions, creating a yard of space with the ball to get a shot off, and taking up more defensive attention which would help our wingers not be double and tripled up on all the time. There's different ways to address the issue. Ultimately we need both.

Yeah that's true. I still back Barry to turn into a decent-at-least prem striker. The thing for me is cost effectiveness - the difference in cost between a major immediate long term upgrade at striker and the same at fullback is probably nearly 40m.

I like O'Brien but he's a centre half and we need a specialist right back; some one who can add to our attacks (as well as defend). We've been crying out for someone in this position for several seasons - it has to be our number one priority. This player needs to step straight into the team.
Patterson to be let go

Thereafter, we need another centre forward. I could accept another "prospect" as we need a third option for when injuries inevitably occur later in the season. I feel that Barry could turn into a real player for us so I wouldn't want to hamper his development by bringing in a 30+ year old on big wages.

Next I'd be looking at left back because whilst Miko is decent defending he doesn't give us enough going forward - this is a position where I would want a first choice purchase that steps straight into the team.

Hypothetically if we're within shouting distance of 5th after a difficult January, do you think the Freidkens go for it and shell out for a striker like Parrott who would be huge risk/reward play? It's so condensed in the middle of the table this year, it would be a shame to not try and capitalize.
