January Transfer Window 2026

We have only 2 defensive midfielders at the club.. Garner and Gana.

The others are box to box or number 10s.. KDH, Alcaraz, Irogbunam, Rohl.

Unbalanced squad.
Midfielders just need to midfielders. 6, 8 or 10. Load of pish. Run, pass, tackle, shoot on repeat. Get those subsets in the bin.

He was probably more focussed on signing creative players which is what most people correctly identified as our biggest weakness?
Whilst it's true that we needed ( and still do ) quality across the board everyone was crying out for a RB ( we didn't get one ) a RW ( we paid a huge amount of money for someone who doesn't play ) and a CF ( we bought one who looks nowhere near good enough).
The budget can only stretch so far admittedly but most were also saying that Mykolenko was nowhere near good enough and that we needed a dominating central midfielder . We got Grealish ( a lovely player who is a bit wasted in this team ) and Dewsbury Hall who again is a good footballer but probably the wrong profile of midfielder.

We have absolutely no pace , no full backs able to beat a man and cross and no centre forward that can score but apart from that we are great 😂.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in January.

If we're still bottom half and get no one in by the end of that month maybe it'd suggest TFG have seen enough and wont throw good money after bad if a new manager is earmarked to come in next summer.
If things are now set up as they should be, our signings should have no bearing on who our coach is Dave? Hopefully, this huge team of scouts, recruiters and strategists have identified a style and a pool of realistically gettable players capable of delivering that style. If (and I do appreciate is it is massive if), we manage that, then the coach simply has to deliver that style, using that pool of targetted players, whether that be Moyes or anyone else. 🤞

I doubt they'll spend.

Moyes had the run of transfers in the summer and it's been a disaster. There will, no doubt, be tension behind the scenes that €95m worth of acquisitions are either on the bench, in the under-21s, or missing sitters. They might prefer to save themselves the grief and reboot.

Oh, I agree that we needed better players in the full back positions, but look at what our team would be without the summer signings we made, and tell me that we have prioritised the wrong positions.

McNeill and, actually I don't know who, as our creative outlets feeding Beto?

Full backs are our number one priority now, but they absolutely weren't 4 months ago

For me the priority positions last summer were RB , CF and RW.
We haven't adequately filled any of those positions.
We didn't need a LW ( good as Grealish is ) , N'dayie was fine there.

I think that's the way the club has chosen to go without the big head honcho of a DoF.

We certainly are going for a more possession based style and I applaud that. But we dont have a manager who can play that way.

The passing is too obvious and ponderous.

Look at Newcastle there yesterday: one touch stuff going through us with ease...and I dont think they're the greatest exponents of possession football either.
