January Transfer Window 2026

Have we actually got some money to spend in January or do we need to sell to raise funds or comply with PSR?

Our esteemed leader Big Ang has already set our expectations that we won’t be spending in January, trotting out the same old baseless fluff from page 46 of the Everton CEO Act 1989 that there’s no value in the January window and we don’t want to spend for the sake of it.

It is tough to be fair. Looking at last year's, I feel like Brentford getting Kayode and us getting Alcaraz were the only really good ones? City went absolutely nuts but they have infinite money cheats on so it doesn't really count.

The most important thing for me would be replace Moyes now, before the window.
Don’t want him having any hand in picking older players to suit his dinosaur hoofball.

Mate… I understand we haven’t had a win in a few weeks … but we just got rid of Dychasaurus who won 6 games in a calandar year

That was off the back of a run of managers which included FSW…

We need a striker and a couple of full backs and we will look much better … if they’re 28 year olds I really don’t care at this point

Let’s just have a season where we are not staring at the bottom 3 all season and see where we are at next summer

That’s because most clubs were in a position where they didn’t need to strengthen in January. We are desperate, we need a striker and minimum 1 full back, and probably another winger just to stand still from last season. I don’t buy the no value in January line, it’s an excuse for the recruitment team to not bother logging on during the course of the season. Then when it gets to the summer it’s “we have to wait until July because of PSR”, then it moves to “we’ve got to wait until August until all the big boys have finished shopping”, and then we get left with the usual 3 weeks to get all of our business done resulting in many panic buys. Stop giving them get out of jail cards and excuses for being lazy and inept.

Sorry but while it's obviously totally fine to criticise the job the recruitment team do, it's clearly vaguely mental to say they don't do as much business in January because they can't be arsed to log on haha.

And every club wants to strengthen in January unless they're 20 points clear at either end of the table. You just think it's only us who are desperate because understandably we're the only club you have insight into all the angst going on.

Oh and next year we’ve got the added bonus of it being a World Cup year so another nice excuse for them not to do anything as all of our top targets will obviously be on extended holidays after reaching the latter stages of the tournament. We’ll get a lovely briefing from our glorious leader Angus sat there telling us how tough it is to get anything done in a World Cup year.

Kayode was a loan to make permanent wasn't it........as was Alcaraz

So no real outlay for both until the next fiscal period

Apart from getting a striker or even two they better be bloody signed on the 1st January! We have one chance to win something so we have to be ready for the FA cup. Not to mention league games in January. If we are still wauting on deadline day i will really see my backside.

That isn't really how things work unless you're Liverpool/Man City/etc

Other teams will be "desperate" as well which is where we should be taking advantage through sales.

I suppose it depends what you class as 'really good'. There were plenty of other signings who've become regular starters for their clubs. I do think sometimes people hold January signings to a higher standard - if you sign someone in the summer then them just not being a complete waste of space gets classed as a success, but in January it can feel like unless you absolutely rip it up it's seen as a waste.

Just sign a RB and a striker to stop these Garner to RB and Ndiaye to ST shouts. Keep our good players in the positions they perform well in and get specialists in their role. The reason we are in this mess is trying to shift square pegs into round holes.
