But yes, we are quite far behind those teams that are seriously pushing for champions league places, but to suggest that Moyes is incapable of building a team that pushes for Europe is demonstrably nonsense.

Fwiw I completely disagree with people saying that. There's so much parity and congestion in the league because the league is unbelievably strong.

The prem is untouchably dominant in Europe overall, and also everyone can beat everyone within the league domestically. That tells the story by itself.

Re: Moyes and building a team that consistently challenges for Europe - I think he is a very good prem manager. You don't have the career he's had without that. But he is a high floor, low ceiling manager. He will always play with the handbrake slightly on - that's the price you pay for an absolutely rock-solid floor of midtable level management. And if the stars align, that means that occasionally you will have a good season of overachieving (see: us finishing 4th with a negative goal difference).
