Any transfer dealings we have with Roma will potentially be a complication for us if we ever qualify for the same European competition, allegedly. I'd be surprised if we ever buy a player from them.

Lots of players apparently turned us down last summer. I’m sure being in the exact same mid table position this summer will be the catalyst to get those players to change their minds.

That’s not an issue. You just can’t play in the same European competition. Transfers between teams owned by the same company are fine.

The club have just spent £40m on Dibling, there is not a chance in hell that he's 'moved on'

Your theoretical wheeler dealing doesn't allow for any injuries or suspensions. But most importantly you have hung your hat on clubs playing actual money for players we don't want. I don't see a world where if those players were to be be sold, we'd get anywhere near £80m for them.

It's a fantasy, and a really ill thought out one at that

I realize the initial post sounded like it was a recommendation for this window alone, I was thinking more of priorities for this and the summer.

In general, the theme was to learn from the business of smaller clubs that have bypassed us into Europe and fixes to our squad that could be done.

I'm saying keep 2-3 of the ' 5 for the future' not all. Not all will likely be successful ( much as we want and need them to be ).

And the recommendations include moving on players that don't hurt opponents. McNeil, Beto, or play... JB. Allowing say 40-50m natural net spend in the summer, all the problem areas I listed could be addressed, without reducing squad size.

First up based on what? Have I missed something ? He'll surely be starting the next two games which leaves little time to ship him, although I suppose a deal doesn't have to take forever to push through.
