.....Happy New Year to Blues wherever you’re waking up in the world on the first day of 2020. It also means it’s the opening of the January window, and here’s the Toffees transfer rumours for this Wednesday morning;

- The Mail reports Carlo Ancelotti will only hold a meeting with the Everton Board to establish transfer plans once the busy period of festive games is complete: “The market is not open yet. There are a lot of rumours, that is normal. It is the same in Italy. After the 5th January, I will talk with the club to see if we can improve the squad.”

- Lots of outlets pick up on a story in El Desmarque that Carlo Ancelotti is keen to snap up James Rodriguez from Real Madrid. The 28 year old playmaker cost £71m in 2014 and has struggled to live up to that billing. The Columbian international spent 2 seasons on loan at Bayern Munich but they haven’t been convinced to make a permanent bid. Everton are prepared to offer £43m. The Express suggest Everton are leading Arsenal in the race to sign the player.

- The Guardian and TalkSport are amongst those who suggest Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is plotting a £50m bid for Everton striker, Dominic Calvert Lewin. The Telegraph say the 22 year old will sign a new 5 year deal with the Toffees to fend off interest.

- According to Defensa Central, Carlo Ancelotti is ready to take advantage of his relationship with Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez, by making a move for Brahim Diaz. The former Manchester City starlet signed for £15m last January but has struggled for game time, playing just 15 times. It is said Real are willing to let the midfielder leave on loan.

- L’equipe link Everton with Barcelona defender, Jean-Clair Todibo. The Centre Back has struggled since joining from Toulouse in January and Everton have been in touch about a loan deal for the 2nd half of the season.

- Moise Kean’s agent, Mino Raiola, has said the 19 year old Everton striker will not be on the move this January. He told La Republica: “I have a stack of requests for him on my desk but Everton has no intention of selling.”

- Gazetta Dello Sport report Everton could miss out on Dejan Kulusevski, as Juventus are closing in on the 19 year olds signature. The Swedish international has impressed on loan at Parma and the Toffees are trying to stop Juventus buying the midfielder from his parent club Atlanta for £29.7m.

- AS link Everton with a move for Dries Mertens. The 32 year old could be available for a bargain price of £8.5m as his current contract with Napoli expires this summer. There is also interest from Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and clubs in China.

- According to The Express, Everton are interested in Morgan Sanson but face competition from West Ham for the 25 year old Marseilles midfielder.

- According to Foot Mercato, Everton has spoken to the agent (his mother) of 24 year old Juventus Midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who has only recently joined after leaving PSG when his contract expired.

- Inside Football say Sheffield United are interested in Everton defender, Mason Holgate but a move will depend on Ancelotti’s plans for the 23 year old.

Thanks Eggs. Some interesting gossip there. Don't see why Rodriguez would be any less injured at Everton given the intensity of the EPL. The loans are Madrid and Barcelona loans are interesting and I like that we are in the mix for the up and coming like Kulusevski.

Thanks Eggs, love your round ups. It’s going to be an exciting month. I want to see some players with some character come in. We need a big personality but not one that will upset people. Just someone with something about them, don’t really feel like we have that at the moment but maybe that’s the way footy is going.

Best thing about GOT, your updates!!

Replace an on form 22 year old with an unproven (EPL) 32 year old ? Happy New Year oppo. Hope you dry out by Feb !!
32YO top international 8.5m, sell DCL (on form, yes for about 5 games lol) for £50m over 40m left over, be a bit stupid not to, DCL will never be worth much more than that imo. It would be very good financial business. But unfortunately we all know it’s just paper talk.

Leave the finances to The ESK mate. I would love Mertens here. Big fan. However not proven over here and not in order to sell DCL. Also a fan. Think he can be a big player here for years.
