I think if we don't have a busy and productive window after the manager has stated we need a couple or three players i think even the die hard mosh fans will being towonder and I include koeman in that.

..as I say, I hope we are not working from a standing start and have done much of the groundwork and had monies approved by the Board. I was sitting near Walsh at Hull and he looked very relaxed, chatting lots and laughing with Jonjo Kenny.

I'm not as pessimistic as you, given the revelation about the £80m loan, but the signs are not looking great.
Contracts extensions for 2 old players, one of whom will be 37 and still contracted, suggests we don't have money to replace them.
Leaked story to the Echo suggesting we've cooled on Gabbiadini could be forestalling questions if he's sold to someone else.
Del being pushed out.
Stories about, and manager's attitude to, Barks suggest he's available for the right price.
Lu still hasn't signed.
Even after the summer window debacle we seem to not yet have bid for Morgan unlike the mighty WBA. Perhaps we expected to sell Mcca but that's been hamstrung.
Desperately hope I'm wrong and we spend £60m+ net but I predict now, on the 1st of Jan, we'll buy Lookman, we won't buy Depay and we won't buy any £20m+ player unless we make a major sale i.e. Macca or Barks.

Despite of the names we have linked with recently, this was a bit similar to the way in the summer...Witsel, Mata, Koulibaly and Perez etc all the hope starting to build up. Fingers crossed this will not be the same.

Absolutely true, but what sum of money will it take to satisfy the boo boys? We took Koeman, Walsh, we have taken the first positive steps on the stadium front. I don't know how easy it is to throw bids around on players you have no chance of signing (Sissoko anyone), but I'd imagine footballing people like Koeman and Walsh would've walked if that were the case. Some people just prefer to keep knocking us, even when there's no evidence to support their view and everything points in the opposite direction. They are the type who boo players (when and if they ever go to the game), you get the sense they will never be satisfied.

...I can understand the nervousness after so many false dawns. I don't have a monetary figure in mind, I think it's more about bringing some real quality into the squad. New faces give the whole place a lift especially if they make the same impact as Gueye.

I believe that we have nothing to spend unless we sell

I think Del and a couple of others will leave to allow us to sign 1-2 new players

I thought the same in the summer and it turned out I was right, I would love to be wrong but there's nothing to suggest we are going on a spending spree

Put the Egg Nog away....Christmas is over

If koeman and Walsh have players in mind there is no way talkes have not taken place mate so me personally I am looking for early signings,I will disappointined If there isn't.This has to be a window that unites the fans towards mosh.

Fully agree with all of that. It's looking grim isn't it?

Its not as simple as that tho is it.

Take Morgs for example, if we believe the meeeeja, WBA are also interested, as im sure a few others, its in Uniteds and infact Morgs best interest to make this deal take as long as it can, United get the chance to invite bigger bids and the player gets the chance to talk to different clubs and play them off against each other.

Its not as if we can ring United up and have him delivered the next day.

Sorry mate you're right, We have 150m sat there ready for us to sign 5/6 new players
The fact is that none of us know what the financial situation is, you choose to believe we are skint, while ignoring the fact that we pushed boat out for Koeman and Walsh, cleared debt and have moved on the stadium, all based on fresh air I suppose? Do you really think a man with Koeman's ambition would've left a stronger team at Saints to come here without concrete assurances? I don't think everything in the garden is rosy and I'm certain we will struggle to sign the quality we need, but I do think we are in better shape than we have been for many years.

If you think we have no money then that's your opinion. All the signs are that we have money. The new regime spent £10M to get rid of the incumbent manager, £6M a year on the new manager, a shed-load on a director of football, and from the horses mouth we bid a huge amount for Koubilay. If we were skint we wouldn't have been able to buy Bolasie for a hideously over-inflated fee.
Having money and spending it is two different things. Personally I'd rather we spent it on players that the manager knows will enhance the first eleven, rather tan just numbers to swell the ranks.
