Seriously though signing players from those leagues is real dicey. Josef Martinez just scored 31 goals and he was utterly crap in Italy. You're talking about a lower standard and it's hard to judge who can actually step up.

There are plenty of gem's over there , the amount the Italian's , Spanish & Portugese sign is proof of that.
If the right scouting and background work is done we could end up with another Richarlison type signing.
Thankfully in Brands & Silva we have two that know how to work that market.
Based on absolutely nothing I feel if we bring in a signing in January it will come from a South American league.

I'm a big believer in Richarlison at striker myself. I think his skill set is better suited to that role. Personally I still really rate Milik who doesn't get a ton of time at Napoli but I really don't see anyone being easily obtainable in January.

Think Milik has lost something since that bad injury.Was very good before that.

Linked with " Gabigol " struggled at Inter loaned out and scoring regularly for Santos . Still only 22 yrs old , certainly has the credentials .
Maybe just the type with something to prove that Brands & Silva like.
No work permit issues either.
Could be available end of December maybe play January after a short break.

I'm just curious. Do you have experience in the game at a decent level?

Malcolm might be an option although a pricey one and if we are looking at RW I’d say Lozano would be Brands first choice if available
Barrios while a good player occupies the same position as Gana so in my mind not a priority
Barbosa I know nothing about except what I’ve read
He signed for Inter for 30m Euro and he’s 2 years into a 5 yr deal so won’t be cheap
He failed at Inter and in Portugal and is now back on a year long loan till Jan 19
Maybe he is not suited to European football or maybe he just gets homesick
The fact that he prolific in Brazil and can’t even get game time in Portugal makes me a bit uneasy on him

I can see Malcolm as a loan mate. For Barca we take a lad who can't get in currently, and he goes back in the summer a much better player who is far more confident. Win Win.

Barrios is more of a playmaker really mate. A bit of a cross between Gomes and Gana. Certainly not a priority, but I wonder if it's too good an option to pass up if he's available.

Barbosa seems to fit the profile of some of the other players, in that he was a talented young player who has flopped a bit. Diane, Mina, Gomes and to an extent Zouma/Bernard haven't lived up to their early promise. Barbosa fits thats profile. It takes a confident and talented coach to turn such players around, though we seem to have both.

I can see us moving to the South American Market. People hated when I said about moving Richarlinson on, but we could probably secure all 3 of the above for less than what Richarlinson would go for. Priorities I suppose.

I'd be going for Lozano, Wesley, Danjuma, Barrios and a top class striker. Probably only the RW is a chance in Jan.

We really don't need much.

If the quality is there in Jan in a position we need, sound. If not, no worries. It's more about coaching and getting the best out of the decent players/prospects we have.

We also have Vlasic/Onyekuru to come back (hopefully) so let's just see what happens.

Lukaku back on a price cut deal. Type of forward needed. Would score loads of goals with the current attacking options available. (Not realistic I know)

In all seriousness, a strong, pacey forward, that can shoot, would be nice.

..I think Suarez was a January signing. Regardless, there will be top class strikers out there who are not yet known as that. If the time is right, they could become available.

I agree, it’s unlikely we will buy a forward but it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if Brands has one lined up. Remember, some South American leagues finish in December.

I doff my cap on the Suarez front ... but a top class striker who is not known as one yet .... isn’t a top class striker he is a hidden gem .... and of course if there is one I agree Brands could well gave one lined up.
My comment was aimed at “The Names “ I still very much doubt any of those would be moving in the middle of the season .... Suarez type moves are rare

I think we can forget bringing in three or four of the quality of player being mentioned . One good transfer window shows just what can be done but we must remember that both Gomes and Zouma are on loan . A lot of our funds will go to signing these or there replacements.

If we can keep Gomes and Zouma I think we need another left back to replace Baines in the summer and a quality striker. We will probably have funds from the sale of Schneiderlin, Niasse and possibly Tosun.

I think our transfer activity will be less but will be very targeted. I think Lozano may be too expensive and Malcolm is still only settling in at Barca I can't see him being available.
