I like value for money when signing a player. I prefer players that are young enough to have a chance to add value to their purchase price.
We need a left back , but we need one to share the position with Baines initially with a view to replacing him in the near or not so near future.
I have seen several posts that have been very critical of Baines this season but he has been no worse than most of the other players and has missed nearly all the games since Sam's arrival. I think Baines has something to offer but cannot be relied upon to play every game. I would like to see a young player come in that can learn from Baines and play games but maybe not every one.
I don't think we are so wealthy as a club that we sign sign players at their most expensive and at an age when their value will start to decline after a couple of years.
