A mate of mine send me this article. It's his international and Ajax team mate Toby Alderweireld saying He doesn't believe that Jan Vertonghen will be leaving Ajax for a club like Everton. And that he'd only leave Ajax for a genuine top club. Wtf? To move from Ajax and the Dutch League, to the PL with a club like Everton would be a big step forward in his career.

First of all, I do agree with TB myself. Don't think CB is priority. Most urgent position to be filled in defence is a back up to Leighton Baines.

As for Ajax, they still have to qualify for the CL and even if they do, I can't see them making it through the groupstages. As for the ££££££££ a week comment, I'm quite sure we can offer him a big increase on his current wages.

Don't know what he is like but it is a lot of money too spend on a another defender, maybe if we got rid of Yobo and then brought him in I would be happy.

That's not what his agent would say though. An increase, yes. But not a BIG increase ala £60k a week which is probably what he'd end up getting if he moved on.

You're talking £20mill+ for Jags, maybe even more than Lescott to sell him. United dont have that especially where other area's need sorting in that team.
