I had a look around at his stats for this season and he's come on as a substitute in 9 games so far this season, and has clocked up a grand total of 152 minutes game time in those 9 games, an average of just 16 minutes per game (assuming an average of 3 minutes injury time per game).

In 6 of those 9 games he's come on with less than 10 minutes to go, with 4 of those 6 inside the final 5 minutes.

If you were him you'd have every right to be feeling a bit pissed off with how this season is going.
 

As I said today, if I was him (as with Baines), on the 1st January I would be handing in a transfer request.

He needs regular football, he would excel at someone like Wolves/Birmingham and make a real name for himself.

Today was a joke to be fair. I thought he would have been in contention to start after coming on and doing well against West Ham. Also was really annoyed with how Middlesbrough made a sub on the 83rd minute, yet we held Anichebe back an extra minute to bring him on the 84th minute? And then to top it off, Vaughan 3 mintues later? Why not at the same time? Surely Moyes didn't aim to waste time?
 
Just watched the match on Sky+ and i saw his eyebrows and his head shake when Moyes told Victor to warm up.

I rate him and think he does often change games when he comes on.

Was thinking the same. Should have been brought on earlier in my opinion. I really do rate him and he needs to get playing time very soon, otherwise it's for the better of his career if he moves on. Really would be a shame in my eyes.

Think, you're right there, but thoroughly don't believe he's been given a fair chance this season. Hope he gets his chance very soon, or else he will hopefully be loaned out in January.
 
moyes's substitute management has always been my biggest problem with his ability as a manager (and i suspect i'm not alone in this respect)

to me, the 50-65 minute mark is the best time to bring people on and give them enough ability to change the game. for a while i thought it might be an Alan Irvine thing, but apparently its not.

does he just get too sucked into the game to put substitutes on, or is he just indecisive about what to do? anyone who's played the game before knows that for the first couple minutes after you come onto the pitch, you're just settling in, moyes really isn't giving vaughan a chance like this.

I'm probably one of Moyes biggest fans, but think you're absolutely spot on in that assesment of our manager. (y)
 
If he'd done it once or twice, you could say ok, maybe he's spotted that one his strikers is tiring. But to bring Vaughan on 6 times in the last 10 minutes ? That's nonsensical.

I couldn't understand why he waited so long to bring on Pienaar. Why not bring him on at half time ? Lescott looked isolated going forward without him.
 

I think it indicates his belief in each of the players to have an effect on the game. It seems he really doesn't believe that making the changes any earlier would improve our chances, and the substitutions seem to be a last roll of the dice.

He has got a good footballing brain, his movement is very good as he showed when he got a run in the team.

What he lacks is technical ability which is mainly because he's missed so much football. He's a quick learner, he'll catch up in that area.
 
Ive enjoyed watching Anichebe.

Goes down to easily and looks abit knackered after 60 mins but hopefully will grow out of it.

Vaughn I always liked, so Moyes should be sticking these guys in the deep end. He's nursed them long enough.

Maybe Vaugh/Yakubu then Anichebe/Saha and if that doesnt work mix em up.

Theres gotta be a goalscoring partnership in there somewhere.
