We know he's not going to track back and dive into tackles that's not what he does, the part what is really irritating me is we have been exposed 3 games down that right hand side now and Carlo keeps falling into the same trap? surly he won't start him on the right again..
If our back line are going to sit so deep and let other teams have the ball without putting pressure on high up the pitch then he is simply useless on the right with no support ahead, if we are actually going to move our back line up and compress the game further up the pitch (supporting James) like top teams do then this would not be an issue as the majority of attacks we conceded would be counters, as it is we are allowing teams time and space to double up on the fullback.

It’s not the James of 2014. There’s a reason he cost what he did and signed a short term deal. A succession of injuries and lay off periods has left his body knackered. The talent is the same, what isn’t the same is his body. It’s not the body of a 30 year old. He’s not lazy, he just cannot get around the field like he used to.
The best he’s looked so far was against Spurs, a team that didn’t lift a leg and allowed him as much space and time as he wanted. Plus that being the opening game meant he was fresher. As the season wears on it becomes harder in terms of stamina, plus most teams won’t down tools like Spurs did. The Premier League is totally unsuited to a player who is physically shot. Just watched Villa run riot against Arsenal, James could never keep up with the pace of a game like that.
Kaka was another who was knackered after a series of injuries. From being the best player on the planet in 2007 to a man who was done 3 years later. In a slower paced game/league the moments of quality will appear, but most PL games are not slow paced.
