It definitely doesn't and fame/ profile/ whatever is hard to quantify but I think it's being underestimated slightly in this debate how much traction his World Cup 2014 performance will have got. He was the star player at one of the biggest sporting tournaments in the world, which is watched not just by football fans all over the world, but people who usually don't give two hoots about the sport. He's a household name internationally and that's when he'd have picked up most of his social media followers I reckon
