I really wonder why he posted that effectively we wouldnt be buying these players + financially it wouldnt be possible + apologised lol

How on earth does be know that we havent got offers on the table for players to balance the books?

Lets say we sign Rodriguez for £25mil on a 4 year deal thats £6.25mil on the balance sheet.

Fee + wages we could cover that by offloading a high earner + any sale of Kenny/Davies more than covers this deal and at least another.

Such a peculiar statement to make...then now its backtracking...and showing how it could be done.

Total conjecture portrayed as facts.

Everton are close to signing James Rodríguez from Real Madrid and the Colombia international has been given permission not to train with the Spanish giants on Monday in an attempt finally to sort out his future.

The Telegraph revealed last week that the Premier League club had held talks over a deal for Rodríguez in what would be the coup of the transfer window so far.

It is understood that those talks have remained positive and are now close to being concluded with Everton increasingly confident of securing the play-maker.

In fact it is hoped that Rodríguez will undergo a medical later this week with an announcement of a permanent transfer, expected to be on a three-year contract, to follow quickly.

The 29-year-old has just 10 months left on his contract at Real who are demanding a fee for Rodríguez even though he is surplus to requirements. Real have been asking for around €25 million (£22.3m) and although Everton have been hoping to negotiate a lower fee it is not thought to be a deal-breaker.
Significantly for Everton Rodríguez is understood to be willing to take a substantial pay cut to be reunited with Carlo Ancelotti who has been instrumental in the negotiations.

If he joins Everton it will be the third time that Rodríguez has played under Ancelotti who was his coach at Real Madrid in his first season with the club in 2014-15 – after he joined from Monaco for £63m - and took him on loan to Bayern Munich.

Even though Rodríguez has had limited opportunities in recent seasons his statistics – for goals and assists – remain impressive and it will be fascinating to see how he adapts to the Premier League especially under a coach who has such faith in him.

Ancelotti spoke to Rodríguez last week to explain his plans for the player and Everton where his first signing as manager will be the Brazil midfielder Allan, a player he also previously worked with - at Napoli, after a deal worth €25m plus €2.6m in add-ons was struck with the Italian club. Napoli’s chairman, Aurelio De Laurentis, told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli: “We are at the final farewell. Allan will go to Everton.”

He is the #1 everton ITK. He shares the info cryptically by saying the complete opposite to what actually happens.
Was that not Silent Witness? Or was this Esk really can't remember.

Either way, he's just trying and failing to stay relevant as always. His FFP chat is so boring he needs to enjoy life more and get back on here for some real laughs.

No question this is a bit of a gamble from Carlo. our boss is smart and experienced. He fully understands the pace and physicality of the PL and also fully understands that these are not James' strengths. he must have a clear plan of how to use him to protect the weaknesses and maximise the strengths.

Hopefully he can be protected by a combination of formation/role flexibility, pressing from our fast combative strikers and enforcement from a retooled combative CM. to succeed we will need him to move around, get between lines, evade markers and find space. If we can keep him fit and consistently get him the ball in space with a split-second to think he will use the ball intelligently, create chances and give our midfield a genuine assist and goal cutting edge.

It is not guaranteed to work and the risk of 'Gylfi 2' type fiscal anchor is real but it is a gamble worth taking as it specifically addresses one of our four biggest issues (the others being midfield legs/energy, accident-waiting-to-happen goalkeeper & legs/energy/threat from RB/RW). If he joins I do hope the club markets us aggressively in South American and Latin communities in USA (including kit/merchandise availability) as he, Richy, Mina, Allan are a big promotional asset we need to leverage. If we do it well we can offset some of the financial risk and create a platform to attract promising young players from that region in the future.
