Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

A midfield of Allan, Rodriguez and Doucoure instead of Davis, Siggy and Gomez looks like an improvement to me. Allan and Doucoure providing some bite in the middle with Rodriguez creating chances would certainly give us a shot at top 6.
It is a gamble, there is no sell on values so we would have to generate money by having success and raising our profile.

Does Carlo not favour 4-4-2?

He favours whatever works with the players he has

Rooney came back to us as a burnt out boozy, granny goosing, party animal.
James, different gravy altogether. Probably the highest profile (worldwide) of any player we have signed. I so hope this happens.
Agreed. We all have relative notions of how high someone’s profile is based on our local media etc. Rooney a big name undoubtedly but I don’t think he’s the same profile as James when you look at his social media followers etc. Rooney was also, as others have pointed out, no longer playing anywhere near his best (although he was still our best player that year).

So why did he persist playing Gylfi in Centre Mid when he's better at AMC?
I’m guessing because we didn’t have the players required to play a 433 or other and he wanted the stability that 442 provides.

Based on the players he’s after Id be really surprised if we played 442 as our ‘core’ formation.

We don’t have the midfield for 433 atm I don’t think.

Put it this way if this doesn’t happen after the energy I have put into this thread I’ll probably toss the couch and tear the cushions with my bare teeth.
