James McCarthy

McCarthy is better than Besic, who will continue to pick up injury after injury.

Barry is gone end of season.

Gibson is a waste of space.

So, from the summer or potentially from now, McCarthy is our second option in the position. If he can retain that importance through good form he'll definitely stay, if not it's best for everybody if he goes in the summer.

Spot on.

Gana and McCarthy for the time being. Schneiderlin signs in January.

Besic will always pick up injury and never get fit. Gibson and Cleverley will be sold asap. Barry's contract will expire next summer.

We may even sign another CM next summer.

Looking at it from JMac's point of view :

He's currently fighting to hold off Cleverley as 3rd choice CM.

Barry signing an extension will have come as no surprise to him. He knows that replacing Barry in the team will be a tough ask, even in 12 months time.

In 12 months there's also every possibility that the young guns Davies & Besic will be pushing hard for starts.

Add to the mix the fact that it's no secret that Everton are weighing up the merits of splashing some serious money on a new CM.

This may not be a bad time for him to move to somewhere like Celtic who can give him more game time.

But the average PL salary at Everton is circa £2.5m.

At Celtic it is circa £150000. Ish.

A vile abomination of a drink. Have you tried it Goat?

And on thread, Jimmy Mac has re-established his own performance template. Up to him to deliver.

God no, I bet its vile.

Theres other players we need to ship out before Jamo.

BUT

If we assume that we will buy Morgs and with Barry staying for another year he might fancy moving elsewhere for first team football, cos I think his game time will be limited after the window, add the return of the Bosnian Zidane and possibly with the desire to give the boy Davies some game time, maybe coupled with Barks moving deeper all in all I think he will look to move in the next 6 months.

I drank it twice, got engaged the 2nd time.

I think Jimmy will move, Green tinted glasses off, probably a good thing for him and us. Gana and a quality passer beside him is what we need. Barkley needs to cement a place alongside him and Scheiderlin.

One decent performance in over two years doesn't mean we shouldn't get rid.

Barring a miracle in terms of his form, I'd take anything around £15m for him gladly. But it'd have to wait until the summer.

I wonder does extending Gareth Barry's contract mean that McCarthy is away?

If we're also bringing Schneiderlin in....

For me I'd rather play Mccarthy over Barry until Jan, Barry would be best used as a sub on rotation to close out the game would be great.

He slows the tempo of the game right down and when Morgan comes in he will dictate the tempo and Gana will keep up to high standards than Barry can.

For me, yes, but I think he was away regardless, the fella wants first team football, IF we dont get Morgs in, we will defo 100% bring another CM in, at least 1, maybe an ACM also if the right 1 comes available.

That leaves us with Morgs/Barry/Gana first choice, with Barks/Besic(if he can stay fit), Davies as "back up", that means Gibson, The Clev and Jamo will be surplus, I dont mean that in a bad way with regard Jamo, who proved on Tuesday he still has a lot to offer us, but the lad doesnt strike me as the type to sit on the bench and get paid.

I'm all over Schneiderlin to be honest.
