People have short memories on here ..it's now up to our manager to get the best out of this lad as brown shoes failed like he did with everything else .. He needs instruction to push more and try to go past defenders instead of the drivel and sideways and backward passing served up under the last regime .. Defenders just knew he wouldn't try to beat and was easy to play against ... If he can't do that and improve his game then let him go - but not without giving him a chance !

Barry
Gana
Cleverley
Gibson

Thats a pathetic midfield really if the first two are injured we will really need Tom Davies playing at his best.

If he's out for 6 months it kind of makes this debate academic. If in 6 months time we're desperately waiting for his particular skill set to return to the team, we'll probably be in deep manure.

Look at the stats on McCarthy's best season out of the last three (2013/14) and compare them with Gueyes's best season of the last three (2015/16). In almost every department other than interceptions and dribbling McCarthy is superior.

McCarthy produced a very good season's performance that was at the heart of a very good season for the team. Gueye's best efforts were in a Villa team where they were under the cosh and made no difference. In short: we know what a very good McCarthy season can offer; we have no idea what contribution Gueye can make to anything much.

Not the best table to use there to prove your point. Even in McCarthys best season Gueye is coming up favourably against him.

What? Over the three seasons, Gueye is better at Key passes, interceptions, tackles won, aerial duels won and successful dribbles.

I said in my first post introducing the stats to compare each players BEST season of the three...and named those seasons.
