James McCarthy

Ha ha
Besic was 4th on the list

Its doesnt take a highly decorated International Manager to see we have major, major issues in the middle of the park.

Ive said for probably the last 2 years we need a real number 8 in the middle, somebody who can pick a pass.

Personally I think Besic should play there, but regardless, as ive said a number of times, we need 1 for sure and possibly 2 CMs of real quality.

If there is one player that I think Koeman may be good for its Mo Besic. He's his type of energetic middle man. If Koeman turned Steven Davis into a competent Premier League midfielder then Besic stands a chance. As a result this may negate McCarthy's influence, or maybe Koeman will work on him two.

One thing is for sure, Barry is not Koeman's idea of a centre midfielder so changes will need to be made as he's currently our most effective.

I will agree to a point on 1st season but after that mate he's been bang average and I think I'm being kind to him.
Think injuries have really taken a toll, he's a player who really needs to be fully fit to play his pressing game and think that (and the teams general form) had a knock on effect on his confidence.

But guess we'll see if a) Koeman likes him b) can get performances closer to that first season out of him. He is still only 25 so in theory still has the bulk of his career ahead of him if he can kick on.

His homegrown status could well play a part as well, like it probably did with Gibson's retention.

I think Mr @Saint Domingo will be happy with the last sentence here.

He's quite tactically aware (more than me anyway on other clubs) so I'd be interested in how he thinks Koeman will use what he's got.

I get what your saying mate and your entitled to say it but in my opinion he's no were near good enough and gets shown up in too many games.

What is Koeman type of midfielder?

Always thought he was bog average.
We signed him and he was sensational for 1 season - he covered every blade of grass Ngolo Kante style.
Then bog average again for 2 seasons.

Is it confidence? We seem to have lots of players with very fragile confidence.
