Agreed. The best two central midfielders in the squad in my opinion are Besic and Barkley (Gibson would be in there if he could stay fit). Gibson and Cleverley are good cover in each position. McCarthy was overpriced in my opinion and not good enough to command the guaranteed starter spot he always has ahead of Besic.
Ideally we go out in the summer and get a manager who can teach Barkley how to play in a central two, and can attract a top creative midfielder either at number 10 or as a deep lying conductor who can dictate play.
It's absolute madness that we play with two DM at almost every conceivable point in the last 3 seasons. Even when things weren't really going that well, still have 2 players in that role.
Hasn't been in form recently, but I honestly think that pound for pound he is our best overall player
