James McCarthy

Is he match fit though? If he goes off early on, we're a sub down. If he's properly fit, I don't have a problem.

Well he's obviously not match fit as he hasn't played any matches... but he's fit. He could probably have played against Swansea but RM didn't want to risk him.

I think he's had enough time now to recover (a month), so fingers crossed he'll be ok.

We really don't have anyone else with Besic out who can do that job, which is going to be vital if we are to keep City out. Cleverley is crap in that role and often moves further forward, meaning Ross drops back and becomes less effective - as happened vs Swansea.

Might sound tripe, but I genuinely think our hopes tomorrow on how fit James McCarthy is.
If he doesn't make it then we are up creek.

A big loss covering our defense. Some complain that he lacks forward passing and vision which can be fair enough at times but he more than makes up for it in unnoticed covering closing down spaces and helps Barry out no end when Barry hasn't got the pace to get back. I really would love to see himself and besic given chance in middle but it won't happen. Barry has been good enough this season but has been caught too fat forward and unable to get back leaving our defense wide open. Barry would still have another season in him if he didn't go past the halfway line. Martinez over rates him. Mc carthy has legs to cover him tho if fit. Maybe worth rushing him back for this one. Not the others where Martinez has made a total balls up of mccarthy.

God I hope he's back today.
