But Baines did actually want to leave. We just said no. Anyway it doesn't matter, I would love to keep McCarthy, I think we would keep McCarthy but if he goes then he's on a long deal and we would get a good price and it's not like we don't have cover for that position. People need to chill out, he states in the same article twice that he loves it here. The headlines about "McCarthyopen to Man U move" don't even reflect what he actualy said. He never once confirmed he wanted to go there. He had an excellent season for us but if you think United are going to come after him after one season at the top end if the table think again. They are rebuilding and want star names. James will be here for a while yet

IIRC it was Stubbs who came out and said he definitely wanted to leave or gubbins like that.
