I wouldn't be that harsh mate, he has been fantastic for most of the season. He still has a lot to learn though
He hasn't been fantastic.
He's been okay, he's nowhere near what we payed for him (yet) and despite the fact he's got a great engine he's quite clumsy and has cost us a few goals this year.

I'm not usually one to have a knee-jerk reaction, I've said this about McCarthy for a while.

Yeah I get what you are saying, I think we were fleeced with the price though whelan knew we were desperate for a midfielder so bumped the price up accordingly.

I don't really see him developing further from what he is now. Things like vision and goalscoring instinct cant be coached into a player IMO, and that's all his games missing.

We paid a premium for him because of his age. A player of his ability with a potential 10 years+ left at the highest level who can only improve was never going to be cheap.

I bet your still waiting for Makelelelelelelele to develop lad.

He could be taller like!

"We will not miss Makélelé. His technique is average, he lacks the speed and skill to take the ball past opponents, and ninety percent of his distribution either goes backwards or sideways. He wasn't a header of the ball and he rarely passed the ball more than three metres. Younger players will arrive who will cause Makélelé to be forgotten."

I get the impression you're suggesting he doesn't need them things?

He does yes and I would like to think he will improve on that regard, I just think hes not "expected" to do them with the tactics we play and clearly hes yet to show he even has them in his locker.

He seems to be playing box to box a bit more. He'd obviously be a better player if he had them qualities. I agree that's not the main part of his job in the team like.

Remains to be seen if he'll be our DM once others come back and Barry turns it in.
