Maybe the fact that he was alongside Barry for that first season made him look a lot better than he actually is?
A couple??Oh dear! A couple of iffy results and this has started!
A couple??
Home form is shoddy
Away form is even worse
Wake up will ya
Top post regarding James McCarthy, would love him to get a good spell without injuries, he's a better than average player and would be great playing continually in the Everton team team/ squad. Good luck James if you get back. The difference with Sam is that he was not going to change his style, and had he remained here 2-3 years would have maintained the turgid approach that he employed, at Bolton for example, longer term. That was and is unacceptable to Everton supporters.
Silva, I believe, is building something that involves much more attractive, and traditional Everton-style football. This will take time, but I believe if he is given the chance we will be significantly better in 2-3 years.
In the meantime that may mean some poor results, and disappointing league position but, as has been said elsewhere, I can clearly remember the beginning of January 1984 !!!!
'nuff said!
As regards James McCarthy, I am so disappointed for him regarding his horrific injury record. He is NOT a malingerer, and this was shown anytime he did play - he tackled fearlessly - maybe this is what led to some of the worst injuries.
I really hope he can come through into the Everton first team squad. If not, I wish him every success should he go elsewhere.
Good post. McCarthy isn't flashy, but he's a hard worker. It's just a shame he's always bloody injured. The difference with Sam is that he was not going to change his style, and had he remained here 2-3 years would have maintained the turgid approach that he employed, at Bolton for example, longer term. That was and is unacceptable to Everton supporters.

Thought this was the McCarthy thread...not the 'post nonsense about Silva' thread...
McCarthy has to go pronto...every window I hope someone comes in for him and every window hes injured.
Just need to get his wages off the books, any transfer fee is a bonus.
Yep. We have four first-team defensive midfielders in our squad, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Baningime, and McCarthy, plus Besic on loan. Hopefully Brands is able to convince either McCarthy or Schneiderlin their footballing future lies elsewhere. My preference though is Schneids out the door first.
