James McCarthy

He pushed for a move himself in the summer of 2015 but Spurs rejected his wage demands and the deal fell through. I was told that by Joe Royle at the time.

And yes since then Everton have been open to offers.

Re lifestyle, from what I know myself (not worth much) he certainly wouldn’t be one of the Irish lads who is known for enjoying a light refreshment.
I live near Malahide where the Irish team used to train and socialise after the match ( it’s where Robbie Keane took the Spurs team for the Xmas party ) and McCarthy when I’ve seen him has been on water or minerals while a few of the lads ( not all ) had a pint

Is he still alive? Never hear anything about him now. How long has he got left on his contract?

Can't help but think his career, even for all the money he may have earned whilst here, won't amount to a great deal which is a shame for both us and him.

Silva mentioned him in his last presser, he's going to be involved in the behind closed-doors game that they're having during the international break.

Same goes for Mina, Jagielka, Coleman and Gomes

It is hard to see a future for him at Everton. We have moved on since this latest injury. He was struggling before that. I feel he has had too many serious injuries and too long off to make it back to the standard we are aspiring to. It is a shame but he will still have a few years in lower reaches of the Premiership or in the Championship.

Much rather see him coming on late in games to shore things up than Schneiderlin. Can't be far off now.
Might be a bit of a luxury, but I agree. I was screaming for a defensive mid to come in and replace Bernard or Richy once we went up as they looked gassed. Even if it was Morgan. That being said, I'd sell both if we could upgrade any other position. I like Beni.

I don't think it is IF he can stay fit (and that's the issue).

Silva likes players who press and can move the ball quickly. McCarthy is very apt at both of those.

So IF he stays fit and plays well when he's involved, I think there could definitely be a future. Depending how Gomes does, it means we could realistically move Schneiderlin out in January and be just fine.

The question is have the injuries taken their toll? He is pretty beat up tbf. I’d like to see him make a comeback because he is useful.
