Fellaini was worth it.

We're blowing a transfer budget on the Irish Joe Allen

Joe Allen was and is a much better player than he is. The way we need to look at this is that we have recieved the biggest amount of money we have ever been given in a close season, and look like we want to give around £22 million of it to Dave Whelan in exchange for a manager and a big part of a team that got relegated.

Er, no. That's really NOT the way we need to look at this. Not if we're reasonable people and are prepared to give a highly rated coach more than three games before clamouring for his head.

It is exactly how we need to look at this - if you had £20 million to spend on two players, would you buy Kone and McCarthy?

I knew the day would arrive when Felli would leave but i was hoping when that day come we would receive a large fee and use it to strengthen the team in múltiple áreas, the fact that we appear to be about to waste the majority of it on McCarthy does leave me a little underwhelmed........feels like a missed opportunity.

Spot on!
