tbh mate that's exactly how it should be. Lets just say Fellaini and Baines didn't go. Imo we still needed 3 players ( 1 main cm, 1 back up cm and either a 2nd striker or striker ). If we sold Fellaini and or Baines I think we need 4 or 5 in. Not going to happen but it would be nice just for once we can close a window keeping all of our best players but also improve the first team and add even more depth.

Yeah I know it's how it should be, but it isn't because we've got no money. If we had money why are we waiting until deadline day when the price for McCarthy is only going to go up, especially given the rumours surrounding Fellaini. Whelan knows we will have more, or should I say actually have some money so he'll be wanting to get every last penny that he can.

The most meh signing in the history of meh.

I never thought I'd see the day when I was totally distraught about the prospect of Everton spending £12m+ on a player.

Just seen a good point made elsewhere. McCarthy will be on absolute piss all wages, which probably should be considered when discussing whether it is a good deal for us or not. I've read that he's on about 20k at Wigan. Let's say he doubles that, it's still a relatively paltry 40k. That is a hell of a lot of money saved when compared to what Fellaini is paid. Potentially a whole other player's worth.

Just spoken to Dave Whelan. Fee for James McCarthy needs to be " around £13m " or won't be going anywhere #wafc #efc

Let's hope he stays then!

Football agent Barry Silkman on Talksport this morning said he is waiting on a deal involving a Championship player which is dependant on possible incomings at Man United. Does he represent McCarthy or Ince because its hard not to think he wasn't talking about Everton.

Sadly. I think Willie McKay is his agent.

Fellaini was worth it.

We're blowing a transfer budget on the Irish Joe Allen

He's a decent little player, will be a good like for like replacement for felli, not as good in the air or as strong, but his all round game is just as good. But the money is just getting silly now, at nearly 23 years old, he's not a hot prospect either, he will improve slightly probably but not a great deal.

I reckon him and Seaums will pair up well on the right side.

12 mil tops is sensible, beyond that whelan is having our trousers down.
