Who would play midfield in December?

Yeah they’re top class, which Garner isnt/wont be in the middle - that’s my point.

He’s a decent premier league central midfielder, he could be a very good full back or a reasonable utility player.

He won’t ever be anywhere near the levels of hyperbole they’ve been going round.

Your looking at a pretty good couple of years moving up the table, plus europe, before someone like Bruno gives us a sniff..

I feel like you’re missing my point mate.

I like Garner, he’s a decent premier league midfielder. I just think the ‘top class’ shouts are far fetched. I’m not even vaguely suggesting we can attract players like Guimaraes.

Garner is fine for where we are/have been, if we want to improve we need better long term in that engine room.

If he were to be a right back and commit to it I think he could be very decent.

I think he’s proper middle of the road premier league (which in the scheme of things is excellent).

Criminally underrated is a big overstatement of his abilities though.

He got shown up today by proper quality premier league central midfielders. He’s a good all rounder but we’re his level (where we are/have been - not where we’d like to be!).

He's nowhere near that level the likes of Tonali and Guimaraes are.

I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think there's huge scope for him improving either. I think he's getting everything he can out of himself right now, which is a credit to how hard he's working but it's not enough to really stand out at this level.

Sadly a sign of how bad we are or at least have been in recent times. Anyone doing the basics required at this level is deemed a quality player.

The same people that were probably cursing his every movement over the last few years.

Its either the worst, or the greatest..
And it changes on a very regular basis.

Would love to get the vaults out on this lad, and make a grapth on posters forever changing opinions..

It even carried on when Willock and Ramsey came on - Garner is no better than either of them let alone the starters for them.

Yes I was there seen it clear as day. Our midfield as a whole yes. But singling out Garner as our “whole midfield” no.
