2025/26 Jake O'Brien

Up against 2 rapid speed merchants last night & really struggled.

Usually has Ndiaye helping out but he tired quickly in the 2nd half and fresh legs should have been brought on.

He's been great for us but we do need a true RB in there.

Then again , yet another goal conceded from our LB position.
That's 5 in the last 3 games.
Dibling offered O'Brien some assistance and we shut that right side down from being a runaway success for West Ham once Ndiaye was subbed ...aided by Summerville being hauled off too like.

He might be being affected by family life atm but I dont see a big drop off a cliff for him in terms of form. Defensively hels solid enough apart from last night, attacking wise he's not great.

But he's far and away our best RB option unless we pull Garner out of his good work in MF and put him there. 🤷‍♂️

Felt sorry for him last night, going to get games where he is up against genuine pace, with his build too it is tough, think he has done a great job in the main, just remember everyone it is not on O’Brien last night, more on the clubs pathetic attempts to improve a position which we have required for three to four years now.
Hes got pace too, he looked knackered at the end though.

Its been a good 5 years on both sides now. Right back. Not since coleman still had the legs. Thats a good 5 years ago. Left back. Digne was the last decent left back with quality. Myko is ok. At the moment crucial seeing as he's the only left back we've got. But ok is at best.

Oh for a Time Machine and prime Baines/Coleman bombing forward with the likes of Grealish playing them in👍

He got utterly rinsed by Summerville.

It only stopped once he was taken off, baffling sub by Nuno, he was running riot.

.
What attempts? Moyes said multiple times fullbacks weren't a priority. Even tho the only relative success he had was with really solid to awesome fullbacks.

Please please please for the love of this club can we stop the move Garner shouts..

Everyone deserves their opinion,
so maybe i just need a warning signal that one is incoming..

Let's not go overboard here. Some saw Summerville burst into life at about the hour mark when he had us on the ropes single handed for the next 15 to 20 minutes until subbed and see it as a great performance, but he was quiet before then.

O'Brien tired after having to patrol that whole right hand side for an hour while Ndiaye stood around after any attack broke down with his thumb up his arse...hence why he was subbed with 10 to go. Dibling got stuck in and we saw the last 10-15 minutes out without any significant bother on the right hand side.

I bet O'Brien hope Dibling starts next game.

He was ran ragged by Sumerville lets be completely fair here. O'brien is just simply not a premier league footballer. We also dont do ourselves any favors by putting a 6'6 centre back as our starting left back against a 5'9 speed demon. Thats all on Moyes though.

Nonsense statement that.

Short termism.

He was great last season but I think he's struggled a bit to fund that top form again.

He's usually better than Mykolenko on the other side, and if you want to have a go at a player not being PL class atm look no further than Tarkowski, who's been playing like a non-league maniac for months.

Not a premier league footballer is harsh, he's certainly not a right back. See no reason why he wouldn't make a good premier league centre half. Not his fault that Moyes has bolloxed up the transfer window.

I'd have a go at Tarkowski if he wasnt instrumental in keeping us up for the last 3 seasons. Yeah you can say O'brien was tidy last year but he cannot play for a serious football club. Just look at him play. Was petrified any time he had to make contact with the ball last night. Going forward he offers nothing. Hes one of the 6 in that squad that needs to go as soon as possible.

O'brien, Mykolenko, Beto, Mcneil, Paterson, and Iroegbunam.

It’s not nonsense, he got battered all game. His aerial ability worries me too

He's playing out of position. There is that small matter you may not have considered.

He should be in the centre of defence with a decent partner.

Not the whole game. That's re-writing the script a hell of a lot.

He was run ragged in the end because Ndiaye failed to do any tracking back all night.

When you have Mykolenko running across from LB because Ndiaye and the increasingly loony Tarkowski have failed in their jobs to give back up you know why in the last half hour O'Brien had a mare.
