2024/25 Jake O'Brien

He played under Dyche and wasted his opportunity. Under Moyes he's seized his chance.

…no, he wasn’t displacing Tarkowski or Branthwaite under either Manager but I think it was a bit of a masterstroke from Moyes to give him his opportunity at RB.

I’ll admit to never thinking a 6ft 4in man/mountain could play at full back against top flight wingers but of course Moyes has form for it. It’s got him in the side and I think it’s helped him transition today.

 wasted his opportunity. He was barely given a chance at all which is the reality. Plus when a boss doesnt like a player, he wont play him anywhere near as much as he should.
All moot now anyway.

But he was bought by Thelwell and Dyche and handed his first chances to securing a place in the team.

There's no denying that.

The coaching plaudits have to go to his French club boss, btw.

That was more a measure of how desperate we were at RB.

Moyes has done that in the past with other CBs though.

Thought he was poor today to the point were I reckon he practically cost us the game..
He wasn’t good. Not sure what else he can do on the 2nd goal. Ball was deflected, no support from his fullback to put pressure on the striker.

He’s not using his left foot to pass to Branthwaite, frustrating to watch him pass back to Pickford simply because he doesn’t trust his left foot.

Would like him to jump to try to get a head on the ball
