Player Valuation: £80m
These three players had a so-so start to their Everton careers, were judged somewhat harshly by the supporters, and ended up proving those who judged them that they were a bit premature in their opinions.

Who were these supporters? We'll I'll hold my hand up on one.

When I saw Jags against RSL in preseason after we had signed him, I wondered what Moyes was thinking. He played him at right back against Salt Lake and he didn't impress. It didn't help matters that I didn't know what his natural position was either. Fast forward to today and he's arguably our star player when he's healthy. I got that one wrong.

Many did the same with Yak and then Fellaini.

So with that being said, I'd ask that we don't make that same mistake with Billy.

He's had some very good games and some not so good games but you can see the class. It's there and I honestly think he could be a star in this league for Everton. He just needs to acclimate to the pace as did Yak, Jags, and Fellaini. Same with Donovan, any new signing, loan player, or reserve coming up and making a debut.

SOOOOO....I'd ask my fellow supporters the following when we get a new signing:

1) Give 'em some time to adapt to the country.

2) Give 'em some time to adapt to the pace of the league.

3) Make sure that it's their natural position they're playing in.

4) Give 'em a run of matches as opposed to just one or two.

5) Give Moyes the benefit of the doubt with his siginings. He's gotten it wrong a time or two but it's not often.

In comparision Yak's standard is a long way behind Jags, arteta pienaar and Felliaini, who are all world class.

But by the same token lets not go around thinking players are world beaters just because they have a couple of decent games.

Like the best man band in the world once said : "Just have a little patience".

We're not talking about standard of play, or at least that wasn't what I had intended. I'm basically talking about how Everton supporters are notoriously quick to judge. Now, that may be the same with other clubs as well, I don't know. But it's always been an issue here since I've been supporting the club.

I agree with that but I'm not sure that we even have any world beaters. We've got a collection of very good players that as a team, I'd take against anyone in the league and I mean that. Our best eleven (all healthy naturally) against anyone else's best eleven.

Bring it !!!

We might need to resurrect Chico's "Kneejerk Reaction Thread" at some point but I hope not. Not in our current form unless that reaction is "We're gonna win the league !!!"

I'd also add that out of those players, Yak is the only one who has subsequently went back to how I thought of him when he first came.

Its been said that most forign imports take a season to get use to the speed of the prem sn the physical aspect of the game. I have to agree with this, Looking and Pienaar and Fellaini. both took a year to settle now there coming on form.
In the Echo today, Moyes said, the main reason Fellaini started to play so well is because his English is now much better and he able to communicate with his team mates properlly now. Also he use to the Prem an thats why he know playing his proper postion, as last season he was card happy.

As for Bily, he come to us after playing a full season in Russia, I don't think he knows much English and came in to a side that was playing poorly.
I don't think he is fit enought still to play in the prem, he is miles off the pace some times. As the teams confidance grows, so will his and his fitness is improving each week.
He has a mean left foot. Thats what we been lacking, someone who can score outside the box, ala Gerrard and Lampard style.
I think he will come good.

Moyes picks well

Unlike the fat bold fella across the park. FACT

It's not so much about patience. It's about their natural ability, adaptability and style. We won't be where we are if we hold on to players like faddy, linderoth, alexandersen, davies AJ, BT and Bent with the intention of giving them more time to flourish.
There's no black and white, right or wrong in gauging their potential so I'm not sure what is the benchmark for kneejerk.
