Jags will be tops

On the bench as midfield cover. I have watched his game closely and I still think he is out of his depth. Like players before him I will give him his due and wait with baited breath to be impressed and see the side of his game I hope he has. Till now, nothing has given me any indication that he will make the step up.
To be fair to him, Moyes is very wrong to play him alongside Neville. I'd plop him in midfield with : Pienaar Arteta Cahill Jags. Then judge him more accurately.

I still have faith in the lad, but he has yet to prove anything about his game at this level.

I agree entirely with this Ich, he does appear to be out of his depth but as you say only time will tell.............we can be hope:)

He was player of the season for Sheff Utd last year in the Prem.

He is better at CB or RB now, I can see Moyes grooming him into a Carsley replacement. He cost only four million and works his socks off, he will come good in a Phil Neville/Carsley type way.

Still think he would read the game better as a defender rather than a midfielder. Really the same for Neville also in my opinion. Based on the early games this year that I have witnessed. He will be a good player as the season developes(y)

I asked my blades mate about Jags:

His best position by far is centre half and he more than capable of playing at right back. He certainly is no midfielder! Warnock spent most of the season last year trying to prove he was. We only went 10 points clear when he realised he should be playing at centre half. We then started loosing ground when he pushed him back into midfield.

He'll develop, but I really hope his confidence doesnt get battered in the process.

When he went off last night he looked both gutted and relieved, he needs resting(y)

I really think he's just finding his feet, everything he's doing wrong is more lack of concentration of clearly lack of confidence. We know he's quality from his Sheff Utd days, lets just hope Moyes learns how to get the best out of him.

I have more faith in him coming good than Yakubu to be honest, but on the same hand I do think Yakubu will come good too. Out of the players in our squad who I'd be more concerned about right now would be Osman to be honest.

Didn't want to sign jags and he has done little to persuade me otherwise.

everyone said he was one of the most promising players in the championship but I thought he was [Poor language removed] for sheff united in the prem.

that assessment was backed up by his non-placing in the actim index that season.

Ok Sheffield were utter [Poor language removed], but to say that he was voted their best player - who else was there?

Its not like when west ham went down and half their players got snapped up. Nobody really went shopping at sheffield cos they were rubbish.

No-one else wanted to buy him other than us as well.

Moyes bought him cos he's a leader, determined, good in the tackle, works hard, is committed, - in short he is a moyes player.

seriously lacking in skill, creativity, culture and touch for a midfielder. Which according to general consensus is what we need in the middle of the park.

If anyone can convert him into a decent centre half its Moyes though - and he has the attributes to do that job. Lets hope we don't see too much of him in midfield - as Neville loses the ball enough there without someone else coughing the ball up.

We'll need cover back there this season so lets hope jags steps up and proves me wrong in the centre of defense.

There is no way on earth he'll ever be a great midfielder, its painfully obvious he simply doesn't have the talent.

That is a very fair assessment of what we've seen of him so far. He could be ear marked to replace Stubbs or Cars at some future date meanwhile he'll learn his trade from the subs bench when the others are fit. He is a blue as well so that may actually work against him, trying too hard can be as bad as not trying at all(y)
