McBain

Player Valuation: £80m
Give the guy time. He's a great player, and will only get better. I think he's playing a little makeshift at the mo, and you can see it in his game.

He wont take anywhere near as long as McFadden to do something; just watch him grow when they put him in the right spot.

And the guys got a rocket shot.

I agree he is not a midfielder not a premiership midfielder anyway,he is more suited at centre back and i reckon thats where he will end up.

He was abysmal against Boro. I'd say the weakest link in the side.

I have faith he'll get it together though, he seemed 'alright' at Sheff Utd.

Oh my god, this place has been infected with the TW cynicism. Why do we jump on the back of players just because they had one bad game, especially when they have only just arrived.

I only level criticism once that player has had enough time to be established. But come on this season, Yakubu, Piennar and Jagielka have all come in for some unjust attacks.

Jags is an all action type player. Get him under the Stubbs wing and he can teach him. He's going to be a utility man for a while, untile he can fit into the backline with Lescott and Yobo.

I hope the defence can redefine the three man central wall, Baines and his equivalent on the flanks. I reckon this will free us to a more attacking and controlling Gravesen type to hold the midfield, and also give Arteta the creative free role he had against Boro.

It would allow the Cahill card to be less of a risk defensively.

Spot on mate.

Where's this rocket shot of his? Do you mean that overhit pass that ended up in row z?

So he had a bad game. He tried his socks off. Didnt you see the bullet he scored with last year for the blades and tell me if anyone other than stubbs in the side could have hit harder.

archie used to hit things pretty hard

hahaha

as for jags, im putting the boro game down to a bad day at the office, he was good against blackburn. Also allowing him to be the defensive midfielder instead of worrying about nevilles positioning and passing as they both try to do the same job will help him no end.

You can clearly see that Jags is adjusting to life with us, its very evident in his game. Its as if he's trying to hard to impress and not thinking enough on the game.

Give him time and I think he will be a class player. He was the main man at his last club and that was simply due to the fact he knew it and had the confidence to work hard and lead the team. That will come with him.

Crikey, I was only joking -

I haven't actually seen his bullet goal for Sheffield Utd, and if he's got that in his locker, then I'd like to see more of it on the pitch - definitely something we could do with.

Where is his best position?

On the bench as midfield cover. I have watched his game closely and I still think he is out of his depth. Like players before him I will give him his due and wait with baited breath to be impressed and see the side of his game I hope he has. Till now, nothing has given me any indication that he will make the step up.
To be fair to him, Moyes is very wrong to play him alongside Neville. I'd plop him in midfield with : Pienaar Arteta Cahill Jags. Then judge him more accurately.

I still have faith in the lad, but he has yet to prove anything about his game at this level.
