Jagielka

I think we severely underrate Jagielka, especially considering the complete lack of world class centre backs in football right now. If he and Stones are healthy that's an excellent pairing. I reckon if those two had been healthy all year our record of goals conceded would be very different than what it is.

But when asked if he felt it was important the Blues made another marquee recruit this time around, Jagielka said: “It depends who’s out there.

“We’re not going to have Champions League football to offer clubs and others can offer more wages.

“So it is a case of the manager sitting tight and seeing what is available and seeing what he can do.

“If we’ve got the money then by all means spend it but we have come that far in my eight or nine years here that we have been careful enough and been very astute with our business plan.

“We still have a lot of talent here and plenty of lads with a lot to give and a lot to prove so there will be a few ins and outs but I can’t imagine there will be a massive signing, but I’m not privy to what finances the club has got to spend and how many players the manager feels he needs.”

Yeah thanks for that Phil, a real insight.

At least he didn't say "It all depends if we can finish in the top ten, which would be a great achievement".

In fairness he was asked about it, and answered.

Players are never going to be told what transfer plans are unless they need to be

How should is his name be pronounced? He announced himself - on Everton TV, I think - on one of those Pen Pic things, and it
sounded liked 'Yelka'.
I've heard at least one commentator pronounce the J as a Y, which is probably correct, but there have always been four syllables,
Jag - e - el - ka. The ground announcer says it as it's spelt. Anyone know? Just curious.

FFS...I don't say it anything like he does:
