Player Valuation: £950k
Out for a month. Could be a blessing in disguise in my opinion, Moyes would never drop Jagielka or Distan if both are fit, and we are crying out for a ball player at the back. Up to Heitinga to show his worth now...

What?

Out of all of our problems this season, that has to be the least worrying... in fact I'm not even sure that's a problem. Jags is hoofing less, and Distin likes to make bursts forward.

And Heitinga is worthless. He doesn't give it close to 100% anymore, and I'd rather see someone who wants to play for us get a chance; Duffy, for example.

Heitinga is also injured, and for a similar amount of time.

So, it's either Hibbert for the next month, or we're forced to blood Duffy.

Duffy won't be anywhere near the first team, nor should he be. It'll probably be Hibbert if Heitinga's not fit. A little worrying really, although saying that, Fellaini can certainly help him out with the long balls and goal kicks.

I hope Heitinga is back to be honest, his composure and passing ability from that position would come in handy. I haven't written him off yet, although he needs to take his chance when either centre back are missing.

This or Rodwell can rotate with him as Mikel's back in the middle now anyway.

But for cert if Heitinga's going to remain a blue - he needs to sort his head out pronto.

Are you saying Rodwell can do a job at CB? It's not clear from your post.

The usual loyalty of David Moyes will probably put Hibbert in at centre half. Personally I would like to see him use the experience of Distin to help one of Duffy or Mustafi gain some experience, especially with Birmingham (not Brazil) being the opposition.
So Hibbert it is then.

Is this thread saying it's good that Jagielka is injured?

Its obviously not a thread saying its good hes injured, what i'm saying is that it could prove to be a positive if Heitinga comes in to partner Distan, as we need a ball player at the back. Moyes was quoted on the OS yesterday saying he hopes to have them(Jags or Heitinga) fit for boxing day, I know Jagielka is out for a month but i'm not sure what the situation with Heitinga is.

Having Distan and Jagielka has been a problem for us this season, both good defenders but cannot pass the ball and look uncomfortable on the ball, who both resort to the big hoof if there isnt a 5 yard pass available. Think of the best defences in the world, they all consist of a no nonsense centre half and a ball player, Barcelona have Puyol and Pique, United Vidic and Ferdinand, Real Madrid Pepe and Carvalho. Last year we had a brilliant second half to the season, and who were our centre halves? Heitinga and Distan. Having a ball player at the back improves our football massively!
