We are playing 2 wingers as though they are wing backs, it's a very strange way tbh. Why not just play a wing back system? I actually think McNeil is more of a wing back than a winger anyway but Harrison is a proper wide man and we are not getting the best out of him at the moment imo. If it's always going to be this way of defensive wide players then that triangle of Onana, Garner, and Doucoure needs to be much much better imo.
There were a few times in the 1nd half where Gueye broke with the ball and then played some dreadful floated balls to no one, his legs had gone. Garner about 4 times in the last 20 minutes just hoofed it to nowhere, his legs had gone. Defensively they'd all put a shift in to the detriment of going the other way and offering a threat.
Away from home I think everyone can stomach that kind of set up to a large degree as its a lot harder to pick up wins. At home though, I don't think the set up is acceptable in any shape at all. That's Luton at home, Brighton at home, Arsenal at home where we've barely laid a glove on the opposition because the tactics won't allow it. All 3 have just looked like damage limitation performances for huge chunks of those games.
But, he doesn't know how to set up any other way and it's what he believes in. Burnley fans came on here when he first signed and told us he hates making subs and he'll keep picking the same 11 as much as possible. We are just seeing what they had for years and he suddenly isn't going to change so as things stand we'll just have to put up with it and take the positives when we manage to grind out a performance and a win.
