2025/26 Jack Grealish

I’ll be very surprised if TFG sanction a permanent transfer.
Not necessarily because he not good enough etc, simply because of the hit to the P&L he will create.
Any deal will be over £35m imo and within 3 years that money is fully depreciated / a dead loss, and I can’t see them stomaching deals like that.
I don’t see his signing generating £10-12m increased revenue per season to justify it.
I see it as an equivalent to when they signed Lukaku on loan at Roma. Bit of a marquee signing with not too much financial risk.

Where have you come up with £35mil?

City need £20mil to be clear of PSR at a breakeven.

I suspect any deal would be £15mil-20mil

It sounds like Moyes loves him but for me Grealish needs to deliver far more to be deemed untouchable.

Agree with you. He's been great for us imo BUT could be a lot more clinical and should score more. One thing he definitely brings is crafting opportunities for others, but given his ability can't help but feel on occasion he should be making his own opportunities on goal too.

Clearly he'd have to be willing to take a humongous salary reduction of about 50% unless the club is stupid enough to hand a £200k-a-week deal to a guy who would be 34 at the end of any contract (assuming 3-year deal).

For me, £20-25m plus £150k a week, two years with an Everton option for a third year = no brainer. Anything significantly more, move on.

He has a ‘book value’ to city of £16m for his last season and they owe him approx £15m in wages for the last year of his contract, so there’s £31m straight away. Add wages for what I would expect to be at least a 3 year contract……
Even if there’s a concession on how much they owe him for the final year, transfer & wages for 3 years will be completely sunk costs, would still total at least £35m imo.
Throw in they’ve already spend likely £15m on him for this year to cover his wages / loan fee, I don’t see them stomaching one player who’s ultimately going to make too small a contribution to their P&L and have zero resale value (at by then 34/35) to justify a combined outlay approaching £50m at that point. Doesn’t make any sense from a business perspective.

We need a big performance from him today. I expect Brentford will sit very compact and make it hard to create chances, therefore Jack being able to move through with the ball and take players out of position is key.

A small worry is the lack of pace we will have down that side

Think he can become more central number 10 as he gets older and have another couple years then at top level.

I can see us taking him on another years loan and then on a free at the end of it. He doesn’t want to go back and it’s unlikely he will play again there. If we do end up buying him, I can’t see it being for anymore than buying out his contract. Anything over £15m for a 31yr old with 1 year left would be stupid money
