2025/26 Jack Grealish

He and Foden were caught, not once but twice at night clubs, both were binned off last season as a result.

Pep is crazy strict, weight, diet, tactics, footage etc.

He also didn’t think Jack could do it every three days anymore. Once a week sure.

Not saying Jack wasn’t sick or anything at the weekend or that he doesn’t give it all. But there are reasons he’s here and not at City anymore.

In truth , he enjoys a drink in his time off, it’s allowed - he won’t be crucified for it the way he was at City, we’ll be more accommodating because of his talent.

Really good summation of my personal beef with it. Ideally we should be striving for sporting and conditioning perfection now, not accommodating admittedly very talented but slightly maverick players.

That kind of behaviour from highly influential players can infect club culture especially easily led academy players.

I do get the risk/reward element to it as right now, we're not in a position to attract elite players with no baggage at the peak of their powers. Frustrating.

His best response now is to score the winner v Forest and give it the dentists chair or something 🤣

After going on about his night out the i-news popped this in at the end:

Grealish was talked about as a Ballon d’Or candidate back then. Thirty months on he is on loan at Everton, his impact waning in World Cup year. Two goals and four assists is the sum of it thus far.

Thomas Tuchel, it appears, has already called time on Grealish’s England career. Or maybe he recognises that Grealish has called time on himself.

Not true at all, doing the exact same stuff he did then.

Has looked very good in almost every game.

Maybe its my memory but he was running at players and whipping in balls quickly. Now its more about holding the play up.

I don't think he was...even in them first few games...the criticism came he was still not running at players enough and not shooting.

I just think everyone went a tad ott on his early form....and he has been just as good / consistent really....as time has gone on we have just seen how hard it is for him with lack of similar quality around him.

Didnt have these issues at Villa.

Has he lost pace? Drive? No idea.

Perhaps its down to the full backs?

Not seeing a player that I'd be paying over £20mil for and big wages at his age for 3 years.

I think we should try him in the 10.

Different player now, years since those Vila days.

Much much better footballer now.

Nothing wrong with him at all.

Yes we need a miles better full back, but better striker an a 10 that plays closer to striker.

Ye maybe the 10, I would like to see that.

While I also love us to sign young players....and exciting prospects..... we do need some really proven quality in the team and more of it....I would not think twice about £25-£30 million for me - He is THAT good a footballer, we need to keep him.

Has'nt got the stamina anymore as a 10.

@RomanReigns mentioned the other day about Bowen if West Ham go down.

I brought it up yesterday and posed the question on whether Bowen could be used as our new 9.

His goals & assists when playing there (according to transfermarkt so not very reliable) are immense and goals around 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 for west ham.

If we signed Grealish & Bowen then that would make a lot of sense for 3 seasons to push the top 6.

However, if Grealish is to be the LW we need another player to develop behind him (Braiden Graham?) over the next few years. Barry to back up Bowen.

That would be quite positive i think. If indeed youre right about Grealish.

But id like to see Grealish in the 10 as I dont see him anywhere as effective as Ndiaye on the left.

…..ooh, tide turning, you starting to agree with my summer transfer window quotes.

Despite my views that we shouldn’t sign him, his acquisition has been a breath of fresh air. He’s lifted the profile of the club off the pitch and played his part on it. Hopefully that form continues.

I also doubt he’ll be here next season, not least because we seem well placed with Ndiaye (who can switch to the left) and Dibling. That situation changes if Ndiaye leaves but even then we could go into the market rather than have two wide players who prefer to stand their full backs up.

Was looking at Bowen stats before, didn't realist he is 30 this year, and I think he is right at his peak now, and he is a player that relies on pace.

I would like an Oscar Bobb type winger alternative, and Dibbling is clearly the long term player.

He’s 30 years old, single and rich and he has been ‘caught’ going to clubs once or twice nowhere near a match day (we all saw him in the training vid just before this game so he wasn’t hungover or anything).

I guarantee you that other players will be doing similar things all the time but don’t get in the paper because they’re not Jack Grealish and nobody cares enough to click that James Tarkowski went to the pub with his mates (possible example).

Also on numbers he’d also have loads more assists if we had an actual striker.

Well, for me I see Ndiaye (left) and Dibling (right) which then leaves the 10 position which is where i would see Grealish playing.

Then who is the competition for those 3? Nothing left bar a soon to be sold McNeil (hopefully) and the youth team.

I'd also say that if we didnt go down that route and just had Grealish (LW) Ndiaye (LW/RW) and Dibling (RW). Then the 10 could be an 8 or a 6 instead.

In that case we'd have 3 players for 2 positions and probably just need one more young chap to develop behind Grealish - never getting games but experience every day training - Monga from Leicester fits that perfectly.

That then looks very strong short and long term.

Bowen id only look at for the 9 position and although youre right on pace, hes probably got 3 years in him.

A case where we should be going for experience i think.
