James Patrick
Player Valuation: £10m
They'll have probably already signed players on equally ludicrous wages so the saving on wages is likely to be negligible. He was signed for 100m on a 6 year contract, which is 16.6m a year book value, on 1st July 2025 his book value is 16.6m, so they sell him 2m, which means they would lose 14.6m, but then they no longer have to pay his wages, he earns around 15m a year, which leaves them a profit of 400k.
So whilst they do indeed make a loss on his book value, they would recoup that loss with his wages.
