2025/26 Jack Grealish

He was signed for 100m on a 6 year contract, which is 16.6m a year book value, on 1st July 2025 his book value is 16.6m, so they sell him 2m, which means they would lose 14.6m, but then they no longer have to pay his wages, he earns around 15m a year, which leaves them a profit of 400k.

So whilst they do indeed make a loss on his book value, they would recoup that loss with his wages.
They'll have probably already signed players on equally ludicrous wages so the saving on wages is likely to be negligible.

Really hope he goes the WC.

He needs to make it impossible for Tuchel not to pick him,but I think Tuchel's mind is made up on him personally.

Should have been in this squad and he wasn't,Tuchel had nothing to lose putting him in,But he didn't.
He's been carrying an injury, so imo thats why he wasnt in the squad. He openly says he has spoken to Tuchel, carry on like he has started the season he surely has to be in the squad.

It’s less the cost than the sunk value. It’s one thing spending £40m on a 24 y/o player whose value increases or stays the same, this is £20m of lost funds. In fact with contract value its likely to be closer to £45-£50m with zero scope to off set the loss through future sales.

All that said if TFG are happy to spend that and continue funding for other players, then bring it on.
If however it has the potential to leave us hamstrung for a couple of seasons I’m less convinced.

Just means we need to recruit younger players to balance it out …. Players that will will make profit on

I’d say
Jake
Illman
Mcneil
Garner

All signed of 16m each give or take … would generate huge profits if sold

Just need to keep finding value like this while trying to attract a couple of “ here and now” players like Jack that push the team upwards

i think Grealish has shown he thinks a little differently to a lot of footballers

call me naive but I’m sure he’d rather stay here and be adored, earn a high but not silly wage, and get surrounded by even better players than move to saudi and get paid mega bank

I’m confident of us keeping him on a permanent deal

I tend to agree

He’s been in a highly successful team and won it all and I’m sure he’s happy he done that … but you can see the emotion on his face and hear it in his voice in his goal interview

He loves being able to just play , feeling important, loved , appreciated and I’m sure he knows he only has 3-4 years left and he looks like he wants to play and be happy rather than collect wages and look back in 5 years and regret it

I'd be astonished if we could turn a profit on McNeil.

I think even if we sold him for 5mil we’d turn a PSR profit (I’m defo no expert on this so could be rubbish), I thought the longer you kept them the value reduced.

I think the only way we get a decent fee is if Dyche takes over one of the relegation threatened teams and signs him in Jan. His ability seems to have fell off a cliff since Moyes come in.
