2025/26 Jack Grealish

Some enormous revisionism going on in here. Don’t care if he only has one leg we are miles better with him out left.
Our fans are proper weird. Normally when a player is missing for a length of time, they get better with every passing minute. With Grealish it’s the complete opposite.

People seem to have already forgot (or refuse to acknowledge) that he was levels above almost every one of our players for the most part.

The only other player on a similar wavelength was KDH, and they both brought the best out of each other.

When did we become such pearl clutchers? Man has a few beers and he has a 'obvious problem' and 'career over'. Before his injury he was our best player this season by an absolute mile. We need his creativity and I hope we manage to keep hold of him. He has always enjoyed himself in his down time, and has produced magic for city as well. He does lack pace for sure, but if we can sign a young winger and limit his playing time, he is a brilliant addition to the squad. Proper loves Everton too, no chance of him not putting the effort in

“He’s crap, never wanted him anyway, booooo” all because he loves a beer. Who doesn’t. Boring arses.

I couldn't give a monkeys about his drinking. It's not about that and anyone saying it is are just ignoring that we were completely predictable in our attacks down the left flank before he picked up his injury.

Of course, the real problem is that we're forcing Ndiaye to play on the right when he favours the left, and that we haven't seen Dibling get a proper chance to come in and show what he can do. When he stood in for Ndiaye against Forest away (when Grealish was missing that night too) he was confident in taking on the mantle of getting us forward. The lad is inhibited by the raw talent of Grealish and Ndiaye and he's needed a lot more game time than one or two halves here and there - especially so once Grealish was out injured.

Unpopular opinion but I don't understand why you move Ndiaye out of his best position.

I don't remember Grealish having many games where I thought - got to keep him next season.

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm wrong about stuff all the time.

Apparently it's 'weird' to question whether Grealish is good value. Not just a different opinion.

The emotional immaturity on here is crazy.

Honestly I can't see why everyone seems desperate to buy him.

Seems a great lad but we've already got a better player in that position.

I can't remember any games this season where I've thought, yeah he's worth paying x million fee/wages for.
'
We need pace in this side more than anything else imo.
The lad walked in the door and brought a smile to every Evertonian's face.
Not something that's happened in recent times..

I think in Jacks case time isn't a healer, a lot seem to have forgotten the buzz he brought to the club. On and off the pitch.

I'd put him in as a number 10. He'd be superb there if he could survive the extra attention.

Out wide: I think he's cooked there tbh. Yes, a flying LB might give him more scope to cut inside and cause damage. But short of that (and it doesn't look likely because Moyes really likes Mykolenko) he's easily boxed off by most PL teams who just stand off and then jockey him out wide and neutralise him as he gets to within 5 yards of the penalty area.

Good post.
Yeah maybe it could work in middle.
But 10 is such a luxury these days imo.

It makes sense to me to play him inside because he can protect the ball and lay it off to runners, and at the very least he can earn a lot of free kicks in dangerous areas.

However...1/ I dont think Moyes wants anyone who cant get behind the ball and graft in the middle of the park all game; 2/ JG doesn't look like he'd enjoy tackles coming in from all angles, which is what he'd get playing inside. - always looks like he's protecting his legs to me, and that's easier done out wide.
Drawing fouls is literally a big part of his game. He actively looks for it.

We were predictable down the left because of the managers insistence on us exclusively playing down the left whenever we had the ball, despite having Ndiaye on the other side and Myko offering nothing in support to Grealish.

Despite that Grealish was still managing to provide assists and help us keep the ball and control games in a way that we haven't been able to since he got injured. It's night and day with and without him in the team imo. All the transitional moments where we're failing to make anything stick and constantly turning the ball over - start of the season we were just hitting Grealish every time and he would consistently either win a foul or keep the ball (often in borderline impossible situations) and buy us time to get forward.

That can be seen in two ways:

Mykolenko doesn't hand JG a lot of help going forward; but his defensive abilities mean that Grealish can largely stop in the opposition half / halfway line.
Defensive abilities, what you going on about mate did you not watch him against Liverpool and West ham, he's a liability.

He makes the ball stick and we get players up in behind that. But we won 7 with him and 6 without him. I dont think he's a talisman by any stretch of the imagination. There's a lot of selective memories here because there was frustration with Grealish before his enforced time out.

Unless he's coming here for a bargain basement price then we need to focus on bringing through Dibling who ha been criminally cast aside.

erm.. no , some of us have formed an opinion after watching games with our own eyes. He’s not sh1t by any means and hes a likeable character to fans and in the dressing room no doubt. I feel he holds attack up sometimes by cutting back , hes a bit slow and we need pace in that position. Would like to see him tried centrally in attacking midfield and as I said earlier would take him on a cut price deal and lower wages. After saying all that I’d rather him than Mcneil on the left!
