While it's more hope than expectation from me that there's any legs to this story, I don't think we'd be signing Butland as backup to Howard this season. I'd fully expect him to go out on loan this season and probably next to get first team games. I really think, if there is any truth to this, it's one with a real long term view for the future.

To be fair, Simonsen was, Wright wasn't. Wright wasn't good enough for Arsenal and made numerous clangers in the CL so they binned him off.

probly be a very good keeper on the future ( hopefully ) but as previously said, if moyes thinks were short on a keeper, bring richard wright in on a free. yes he is probably building for the future but howard is a good athlete and definately has a good 3 or 4 years in him imo. i'd rather we went for a central midfielder with the 6m.

Because if Butland is half as good as he has potential to be then we need to sign him when we get the chance.

Its not like we have made no signings thus far and only have £6million to spend, plus it will be paid in installments not one lump sum.

We could do with a cm yeah but we've done ok thus far in the window and nowhere is desperate so if this bid is true which i'd assume it is its because its gonna be the best chance we get to sign a Howard replacement as good as we hope Butland will be.

I rem last week someone on here saying Moyes will deffo sign a keeper... I dont think they thought he would be forking out 6m though lol... I have to say if we sign this guy that they kept it well under the radar... Go in at the last minute and keep out of a bidding war... Hopefully one for the future
