Everton have confirmed that Steve Round has joined the club as assistant manager.
The announcement follows several days of negotiations between the Toffees and Round's former employers Newcastle United.
Round had been first team coach at the North East club before linking up with David Moyes at Everton.
Despite being only 37, he has an impressive record that includes stints with Middlesbrough and England.
Everton boss Moyes had been operating without an assistant since Alan Irvine departed for Preston in November of last year.
Reserve team manager Andy Holden, first team coach Jimmy Lumsden and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods assisted Moyes in the second half of last season.
Round, who began his coaching career at Derby, was at Finch Farm on Friday as he began life at his new club.
he exclusively told evertonTV: "Once David asked me, and I met him, it was a definite.
"He sold me the club; he sold me the ideas; he sold me how he was moving it forward and how he wanted to take the next step.
"I said I would definitely come and here we are."

Does he bring enough to the table? Personally I wouldn't have thought so, what can he possibly offer?

But what do I know, Moyes knows his stuff.

woohoo

wouldve prefered the chelsea guy though...

Now hopefully this guy can do all in his power to bring Owen to Everton :D

young, good at his job with an amazing cv for his age.

looks like just the type of person moyes wants at the club.

so moyes assistant is round is he, bit harsh....sure he's put a little bit of weight on, that'll be the north east diet, but to say he's round, he's no sammy lee you know !!!

Good news I think. If Moyes "sold him the club" then surely that means he's sticking around. And if one of the top English coaches in the game was impressed by his ideas, I would imagine they're more than signing a couple of 30 year olds on frees.

yep , bingo ,a great post.

reading between the lines , moyes is staying and has big plans.
we can all sleep a little better tonight.

ps my mrs just saw the pic of round on the os and said "why's jack branning (eastenders) at everton "? lol silly cow:D

Excellent news in my opinion. We've got a good young up and coming coach on our hands. I watched the interview and he speaks very well. Seemed to know his stuff and was very enthusiastic.

Hopefully now we can get some players in.

I like the way Round jumped ship at the Barcodes. Doesnt see a future there I guess.

Now lets start getting some fooking players in!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mates, cousin - who's a groundman, overheard went past Moyes' office and seen Round sitting in his big leather chair with all of Moyes' stuff piled in boxes. He was on the phone looking serious and writing stuff down. He was curious so went back later and had a look at the piece of paper and it said:

"Ronaldo = Arteta + 5 mil"

"Lucho Gonazalez = 13 mil (See Bill"

"Paul Dickov = swop for AJ"

Its from a reliable source, dont shoot the messenger lads. Great site.

Having seen his interview on EvertonTV and reading up online about him:
Very good - all the key things, but I like the word “development” he mentioned half a dozen times in the interview. Some of the players outside the “first 11″ - need to be able to come in and do the job when players form drops (fatigue or injury) where we lost it last season. Round sounds like he knows exactly whats needed.

I think Steve Round see’s himself as coming in to help ensure we bolster quality throughout the squad, so Moyes has more options in games and if people are going off form or injured.
Sounds to me like we may have got the perfect man for the job, because he knows himself what he’s here to do….. plus he knows what we’re about, what the strengths are and the above weakness…
I think he’ll be perfect in fitting into the system Moyes has set up imho.

Am made up. Now I want to see Moyes signed up. I'm a huge admirer of Moyes.
He's the hero (facing down the 42x RS champions league money differential unprecedented in English football, effectively creating a monopoly), and a top bloke.
