It Wasn't Always Like This...

Ace vid. I have a framed, signed Andy Gray Bayern pic on my front room wall..
This is why some of us feel like we do sometimes.. We have seen us boss and net spend, magnificent 7th FFS.
If you went back in time and told me when I was 10 that in my late 30's I would own a video of The Magnificent 7th.. I probably would have thought we had won the league 7 times running !!

Only ex Everton players have won cups with us as managers. Something to think about over the summer no doubt !

People need to realise, its NOT 1985 anymore.

Thats the main problem, people think our History means fck all, it really doesnt, I wonder if Villas history will keep them up? Or maybe Sheff Weds history will resuce them from the Championship.

Infact, City have won fck all, they have no right to win Titles!

Do you think Neville's statement was accurate in the current financial state of the club Goat ?

Yes.

Do I think he should have said it? Oh hell no.

It was never gonna go down well, im not quite sure what kind of reaction he thought he was gonna get, but if he thought most fans would nod thier head and say "Well said Phil", he clearly needs to have more sleeps after training.

Its also the problem that Moyes "faces", unrealistic expectation.

Yes, but because we have won titles before, we have a divine right to win them again. I am in my 40s and Chelsea have won as many titles as us in my lifetime. Yet we all insist we are the bigger club because we won a few league titles over 70 years ago..... And we accuse the kopites of living on former glories

The problem with Neville's statement was that he didn't (couldn't) come out and say

"with the money spent by the board and our financial situation, finishing outside the top 10 twice in 11 years is an outstanding achievement for This football club"

People still wouldn't have liked it, but he'd have had a lot more respect for it. It was also very badly timed

There's no doubt it was a poorly timed statement, but i think a lot of anger that was directed towards him would be better aimed at the people in charge of the club who are letting us get into a position where finishing top 10 continuously is a good achievement.

Finishing in the top 10 for eight years out of ten is, historically and financially an achievement for this club. The only way that wouldn't be true is if we said that our history begin in the late 70s, and we ignored the financial realities since the Premier League was founded.

No one has a 'divine' right to win titles, whether it's Everton, Liverpool, Chelsea whoever.

Problem is, how do we measure how big a club is? History? Titles/Silverware from 20 years ago? Fanbase?
Money, is probably the easiest answer. Look at Man U before the new Premier League formation began. Won 7 titles. We had won 9, but I suppose they aren't really a football club anymore.

He is also one of the main reasons we are not playing in a semi final after his performance along with others last weekend. We don't need to be reminded we're punching above our weight, we're poor, blah blah blah, when our eleven should have won.

To be fair mate Distin's pass was even worse in the Semi and he has been given much less flak than Neville has.

Neville gets an incredible amount of stick considering he doesn't pick the team.
